Travelling with large dog from Nassau to Exuma

i want to take a large dog to Exuma. I can get him to nassau but I am not sure that I could manage to get him to board a small plane and he is quite heavy to lift. I wonder wether I can get him there on a boat other than the mail boat?
If anyone has ideas, i am open. i want to travel with him in Decemeber and leave again in April.
