Traveling by car to US with dog

We are going to Michigan by car and would like to bring our Golden Retriever, can anyone tell me whether we need any special note from the vet or some other document to go through the border for our dog. All of her vaccines are up to date and I have all of those documents. My concern is getting there with all of this info and it still not be good enough. What do I need?
