Firework-free place for scared dog
WE are desperately trying to find a QUIET place to take our dog for the July 4 weekend. SC is full of fireworks and unfortunately this includes the idiots that live in our neighborhood.
Does anyone know of a good, quiet, dog-friendly place within easy driving distance that we could go to? We prefer a stand-alone place like a cabin--something that would hopefully be quieter. Willing to drive to the beach or the mountains; just need a quiet place for our poor dog.

Looking for a place, too.
Hi Karen. Have you found a good place to take your dog for the Fourth? I have been searching and haven't had any luck.
Fireworks and Fido
Unfortunately, unless you live in the northeastern part of the United States, it's hard to say for sure where fireworks won't be heard on Fourth of July weekend, but often times State and National Parks will prohibit fireworks from being brought in. You'll just want to make sure the park its self is not planning their own display. You can also use our site to look up pet-friendly vacation rentals that are secluded, so you don't run the risk of nearby neighbors setting them off. However, most experts recommend keeping Fido at home during the fireworks rather than taking him some place he's not familiar with.
If you're able to stay home with Fido, stay in an interior room, or a basement if possible. Watch TV or listen to the radio to drown out noise and provide a distraction. Keep blinds or curtains closed as well. Thundershirts or other close-fitting pet clothes can be a huge comfort. If your dog is used to sleeping in a crate, bring it into the room so he can go there as his safe place. Cover the crate with a blanket to add to the security.
Hope this helps and you and Fido have a safe, happy and CALM 4th of July weekend.
