Swimming

I would like to take my dog to several public places. Before making the trip I cannot find any info on if there are rules against animals or if there is any designated areas? Some examples are: West Lake, Davenport, IA.. Scott County park, Buffalo Beach, walking trails, parks.. etc. Does anyone know of any secret swimming spots?
