Traveling from Northampton MA to Dog friendly hotel btw Madison NJ, and NYC

Suggestions for nice dog friendly hotel somewhere btw Madison NJ and NYC, with transportation, bus or train into NYC?
I am traveling from Western MA...to the Madison NJ area, while I am there my sister who is accompanying myself and my dog, wants to go into NYC...any suggestions?
