Dog Friendly Hotels

AAARRGGHHH!! Someone please explain to me the purpose of a dog "friendly" hotel where you can't leave your dog unattended in the room! I ALWAYS leave a message at the desk to call me ASAP if my dog is barking and I ALWAYS leave a sign on the door that there is a dog in the room, please do not enter.
