Dogs and Hot Weather

I'm worried about bringing our dog on vacation to La Pine only in that we will want to eat out a night or two and think it might be too hot to have her wait for us in the car. As we'll be staying in a vacation home, there won't be a problem with heat, but I anticipate issues when we are out and about. Any suggestions?
