    Charm was Charmed!

Great atmosphere and unique rooms. I have a review on the hotel itself on TripAdvisor. They are great with dogs. The staff loved our cocker spaniel, Charm. There is a decent sized grassy area across the street to take your pet. There is also a small front yard. The property is directly on the quieter side which makes it great for taking your dog for a quiet walk. People on the street are very friendly and I found many people stopping to pet Charm. There is a fee for bringing a dog, I think $50 for the entire stay. Plus the floors are brick and wood which makes it easier with a dog.

We loved everything! The bed was so comfortable and the sheets were absolutely pristine. Our apartment was very well designed but also very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and we felt very safe walking late at night. I saw some other guests not picking up after their dogs which is too bad but Keith apologized even though there's nothing he could do about it. Also if you like old houses, the restoration of the house is first rate!

    Being Honest

We selected The Galloway House based on the number of ‘bones’ it received from previous guests. In all fairness the unit we stayed in was comfortable in spite of the showerhead falling off and hitting Nancy on the head and we did enjoy Savannah. Breakfast was adequate for the devout dieter. I thought two bagels, two muffins, and some granola bars for a two-day stay did not qualify as a Continental Breakfast. The bottle of wine was a nice gesture of welcoming. We were quick to notice the posting that letting our dogs urinate in the garden could result in not having a garden in the future. However, the owner allowed his three large dogs to pee on anything in the small, cramped courtyard in front of our accommodations and a large turd remained on the sidewalk for 24 hours. We walked our dogs every chance we had and picked up after them. There was a park-like setting adjacent to the library 50 yards from the Galloway House. However, this was also a hangout for some of Savannah’s homeless. The pandering was immediately too much and we resorted to walking in the neighborhoods and going to the dog park. The construction next to the Galloway House didn’t bother me as they were just laying the foundation. In the coming months it might become annoying to guests. I have to be honest. The Galloway House does not qualify as an inn with continental breakfast in my opinion. Sanitary conditions were iffy in the courtyard, security could be an issue, and construction next door could be annoying in the coming months.

We ended up not traveling with our dog but what a fabulous place. Absolutely beautiful and friendly. Sometimes you have to sacrifice a few amenities in order to find a place to take your pets. That is not the case here. We will absolutely stay here when we go to Savannah again whether we have our dogs with us or not!

    So glad I stopped by.

I had just planned to check out a few places to stay with a large dog in Savannah and then continue on my way home to TN. When I saw the carriage house and garden I decided to stay. So glad I did. Too bad the weather turned cold since I would have loved to sit on the front porch. Wish I could have someone decorate my home like this one.

    Beautiful South

Thanks to we found this beautifully restored mansion - the heart and soul of Keith. We stayed 2 nights in the carriage house which sits secluded in a very charming garden. Lucy, our tibetian terrier girl, thought it was the most exciting place to explore. Jim our host recommended a very nice and pet friendly italian restaurant called Leoci. Gorgeous food and wine - try the flounder or the osso buco.
We will be back whenever we can.

    Enjoyed Our Stay

The Galloway House is a beautiful old home and Savannah is w nice city to walk your dog. We didn't care for River Street because of the crowds and didn't like Paula Deen's restaurant, The Lady and Her Sons. We went in September and it was still pretty warm so next year we'll wait until October.

    Perfect Accommodations

When looking for pet friendly accommodations in Savannah we have found the perfect place. Our standard poodle "Stan" was welcomed by the owners Keith and Jim. Stan felt right at home. Savannah is a wonderful city that is very dog friendly. We walked and shopped many of the stores with Stan. He was treated with a dog treat in several stores we went to. What made the trip the best was staying at the Galloway House. Jim and Keith made us very welcomed and coming "home" to such nice, clean and comfortable accommodations made it complete. We are already talking about coming back next year and making our plans for The Galloway House.

    Very Clean and Relaxing

We stayed for 3 nights and we've never stayed anywhere as unique. Other guests had their dogs and every evening we all sat on the big from porch with our dogs and had a great time. It's a shame they're so far from our home, we'd love to go back more often.

    We hated to leave!

If you like big dogs then you'll love the Galloway House! Charlie and Puppet are Great Danes that Keith & Jim have rescued, both are so sweet and gentle that we wanted to take them home with us! Even though we looked at the pictures long and hard, the house is prettier in real life. The 2 bedroom apartment on the main house was a bit of a splurge for us but well worth every penny. It was such a treat to have a formal dining room and having the whole family together. There no place like the Galloway House!

We stay with our Dane for two weeks and loved every minute! The house is stunning inside and out. Keitb was a great help in finding good restaurant and staying out of the tourist traps!

Historic Find For Owner & Pooch

After much skepticism about my ability to find a great location as well as great accommodations for our family of 4 and our 95 pound Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, I came across this listing on your web site. The Galloway House was a wonderful find! The location is blocks away from all the action in the historic district as well as a few minutes drive to all the creature comforts of modern day. The host/owner of the property was gracious and welcoming. We stayed in the carriage house 1st floor which was ample along with a full kitchen and bath with standup shower. The main house has been beautifully restored and includes a wonderful garden which our dog was able to explore leash less. The fencing was ample for our submissive Swissy however; owners of more aggressive dogs may need to beware. Finishes in the apartment were pet friendly and relieved a lot of our usual worry and stress as visitors with pooch. We found the Galloway House delightful for humans, kids and canine.
