    The girls loved it!

Our visit was beyond our expectations. Our room had beds set up for the girls with a personalized welcome letter, treats, feed bowls, and blankets! The room and bed were comfortable, very quiet at night, with a huge grassy area for the dogs to play.

    Not what I expected

I was excited to go here because of the great reviews. Sadly, the place didn’t live up to the description.

    Great stay

We were so pleased with the room. We walked in late evening. Our room was warm and clean. We had an ocean view. Our dog felt right at home. This was our first experience bringing our dog on a trip. Thank you.

    Perfect place for dogs

The cottage has a fenced back yard, a large adjacent meadow nestled in the redwoods where the two standard poodles could safely rom. Overall a great place for both dogs and humans.

    Schoolhouse Creek Inn

Our room was cozy and warm with a gas burning stove. We were welcomed with 2 dog beds, frisbees, dog poop bag holders, treats, sheets and blanket for the dogs and nice food and water bowls. For us humans there was coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge, tea, coffee and milk. The room was clean and we had internet which worked as well as it can on the coast of Mendocino. We heard the ocean while in our room. It was quiet and peaceful. Nice trails and place on the property to walk the dogs. The hospitality was very nice. We will return.

    Great room and location!

We loved arriving there to find a doggy care package (bowls, treats, bed doggie towel and sheet). Lucy loved lying by the cozy fireplace and seeing the ocean view (as we did!). We loved our early morning walks up the path and walk down to Buckhorn Cove. The room was comfy and cozy and we so appreciated the bottle of wine upon our arrival!

    Duke was treated like royalty!

A dog bed, two dishes for food and water, treats and a frisbee was in the room for our sweet lab. I woke up in the night, and Duke was asleep on the dog bed, in front of the fire place. Doesn’t get better!!

    Great friendly place to stay

The room was very clean and inviting. Most of all it was very warm and accommodating for pets with every special touch. The grassy area for dogs to run outdoors was great along with a hammock for humans. The beach and outdoor deck views were beautiful.

Wonderful for dogs and their people

My husband and I loved our stay in the Garden Cottage. It has a small private deck, safely enclosed for our dog, and the common grounds include a huge meadow for doggies to run around and play safely with no roads around. The warm welcome that we and our pooch received was so appreciated. We had initially planned only to stay here for one night as a stopover on a road trip to Oregon. When we saw that there was a minimum 2-night stay, we said OK, let's do that. After spending a full day and a half in Mendocino, and at such a charming place for travelers and their dogs, we are already planning a trip back here as our destination, and will re-book at the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek, for sure. A+ rating!

    Great stay!

The Inn at Schoolhouse Creek is a really sweet spot for you and your dog. The check in was easy. They had dog bowls, a dog towel, dog treats and even a frisbee for the dog and they left a bottle of wine for us. Really nice touches. The cabin we stayed in- Pomo- was nice. Great master bedroom. Comfy bed and linens. Our kids slept in pull out beds in the living room which worked out fine. Next time I will look for a 2 bedroom if available. Nice to have a private hot tub. Great location, 5 minute drive from Mendocino proper. All in all a lovely weekend!

    Wonderful

I took my mom and our dogs for a two-night stay. Upon arrival, there were dog bowls, dog blankets, dog towels, and dog sheets with each dog's name on them, and welcome dog cookies in each bowl. This property also had a spacious dog exercise meadow where we could play with the chuck-it and walk. Plenty of poopy bag stations around as well, and cleanly kept. If you are traveling in the Mendocino area and are bringing your furry companion, this place is heaven sent.

    Loved our Anniversary stay

We had a great time at the Inn for our anniversary in October! It was a cold, rainy weekend but we were pleased that our Anderson Valley room was warm and cozy and the fireplace worked great. The room was clean and they left us a little bottle of wine and welcome note, and left our dog the cutest bed/bowls/treats/towel for his stay. We loved the little details! The balcony would have been wonderful on a warmer weekend and the street noise did not bother us at all. The property was beautiful and fun to take a walk around, and the location is very close to downtown Mendocino. There are two things I would improve: 1) The bottom sheet on the bed wasn’t large enough and kept coming off the mattress. We were waking up all night adjusting it which wasn’t pleasant, but would be an easy fix! 2) The bathroom/shower was very outdated. This was fine for us and typical of a lot of places in Mendocino, but something to note if you’re looking for more luxury. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return with our dog! :)

    Cozy Cottage with our Dog

We spent 2 nights in the Thyme Cottage. This separate unit was extremely quiet and comfortable. A Dog-friendly place that provided dog dishes and bed. The property is bordered by woods and a creek. Unfortunately, the small onsite restaurant was closed due to the departure of the chef. Still, the best stay of our California Coast road trip.

    Perfect For Anniversary Weekend!

The wife and I (and Frank, our Frenchie) searched for the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary and we found it here at the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek. The owner called a few days prior to our arrival to check if there were any requests. Check in was super easy and contactless. Our room, Pacific View, was perfect. There was a welcome letter for us and the dog, and the dog had a bed, sheet, towel, frisbee, and poop bag holder w/ bags waiting for him. We loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone and their pet!

Great dog location and launching point for excursions

Posey and I spent a week at the Inn at Schoolshouse Creek and thoroughly enjoyed our time. We loved our cottage (Tansy) and its fenced backyard that allowed Posey some freedom as well as the dog meadow which was fantastic for shagging balls (and a pretty sunset). We also used the dog wash station a couple times because Posey got a bit sandy. The location is great to explore the area. We hiked the bluffs in Mendocino as well as in Fort Bragg and went to the off leash beaches (loved Seaside beach - 10 minutes past Fort Bragg), went to Albion, Point Arena and Philo from here. As for Covid - it was very clean, everyone wearing masks and we either sat outside or did take out at local restaurants and brought it back to our cottage. Great relaxing week and we look forward to coming back!

    Great place - incredibly dog-friendly

This is probably one of the most dog-friendly places we have stayed. We got a wonderful welcome package of treats, a frisbee, and poop-bags. They provided bowls, dog bed, and dog towels. The property is amazing, with a field for dogs to play on. Great location, nice loft, amazing views, and a wonderful staff. Oh and they do a great job making the humans feel welcome too! They also took excellent COVID precautions. We're looking forward to our next stay!

Great Place, Our Pet was Spoiled!

We booked a room here at the last minute, hoping for a quick weekend getaway with our dog and WOW, do they make it comfy for you AND your pets! We have stayed in other "pet-friendly" hotels, but the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek provided a dog bed, food/water bowls, treats, waste bags...all we had to bring was food! Amazing place, very communicative host - we will definitely be coming back!

Perfect for Pets and Pet “Parents!”

A charming inn on a beautiful Mendocino coast property. We received a warm, personal welcome from the innkeeper, a half bottle of wine and information about local activities and restaurants. Our pup was provided with a bed, water and food bowls, a frisbee and his own welcome
letter. Cypress Cottage has a small, fenced yard with an ocean view, a fireplace and kitchenette. The management is doing an extraordinary job of keeping guests and staff safe in light of the COVID crisis. We will definitely be back! Thanks Martin and staff!

    Perfect for dogs!!!

We were welcomed with a hand written note and a half bottle of wine, which was a pleasant surprise. The manager was really friendly, professional, and helpful. We were given information about how to get to Buckhorn Cove, which is walking distance from the inn. He also provided other helpful information about the area. The inn is only 3 miles from downtown Mendocino so it is close to everything.

We stayed in the Water Tower Cottage for two nights. This is an amazing cottage that has a private hot tub and a deck on top of the water tower with views of the ocean. This cottage was really relaxing and the enclosed area was perfect for our dog and provided privacy. We really enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and the fireplace in the room helped stay warm and to relax.

This place is perfect for dogs. There is Buckhorn Cove within walking distance, which you can take your dog off leash at. They provided a fluffy dog bed, treats, a sheet, a towel, and a frisbee. The frisbee you can even keep. Our dog never used the crate since she preferred the dog bed that was provided. They have a dog wash area and a dog exercise meadow as well.

We really enjoyed our visit and can’t wait to come back!

    Garden Cottage

We had a late arrival check-in and only stayed one night, although I wished we had stayed longer. There was a doggie Arrival Package awaiting our pup in the cottage as well a small bottle of wine for us. We stayed in the garden cottage which was right next to the doggie meadow with a private porch. It was very quiet and quaint with a beautiful morning view of the coast from the observation deck. Our pup loved the private deck as much as we did. They we very accommodating and respectful.

Adorable Place & Perfect for Pets

Wonderful staff. Charming, well-maintained buildings on beautiful grounds. The cottages and rooms are so cute and there are cozy spots all around the property for relaxing -- with people or pooches. The beautiful gardens, roses and lawns back against the forest and offer ocean views. Our room came with beds, towels, and sheets just for the dogs, plus treats and poop bags. The absolutely delicious restaurant, Circa '62, has a cute patio where you can dine with your dog, or even take him inside. The most fun is that you can order steak and eggs for your dogs from their special dog menu! I'd definitely stay again, with or without my dogs, because it's such a nice little spot.
