- ChrissyJun 11, 2024Peaceful and quiet escape
My husband and I travel across the country for work and love the Berkshires but were aware how pricey stays could be especially with our dog. This was our first “BringFido” experience and we were thrilled. Check-in was as easy as it gets with them sending a text including the code for our room door. There was also plenty of lush grass for our Australian cattle dog to run her energy out on the frisbee. Lovely picnic tables and hammocks were also available and we’ll definitely be back!
- JenniferApr 9, 2024Super Cute Retro Reno!
Easy check-in. Clean rooms and great location. Nice pet stretching area — ball toss field in back is swell!
- LizMar 10, 2024Great Hospitality
The Briarcliff was a great pet friendly motel. Our room was clean and comfortable. Lots of space to walk the dogs, and the complementary breakfast snacks were plentiful. Thank you Rhonda for making us feel so welcome.
- MichaelSep 27, 2023Great for dogs
Beautiful, park-like setting with acres of grass for dogs and people. Sadly, the building & rooms are worn and tired. Nothing major… just some maintenance, upkeep, and TLC needed.
- PatrickJul 26, 2023Great place to stay
We really enjoyed the contactless check-in. They texted us when the room was ready with the code for the door. This is an updated motor court, which we really liked. The room was comfortable. The devils pulpit trail across the road is a fun hike. The breakfast bar was very nice. The room smelled slightly stale and like cat urine when we arrived. Opening the windows for a few hours solved the problem.
- CoreenJul 5, 2023Horrific experience
The so called friendly, helpful person who runs the place was extremely rude and not helpful at all. We asked her for recommendations on where to go look around until it was time to check in. She acted as if we asked her for her debit card and PIN number. I travel around New England with my dogs and have never had an experience like that. Usually when they say pet friendly they mean it.
We came back to the hotel to check in. We already knew what room numbers we had. The key was in the door. I’m a single mother and have 2 kids with me. Really doesn’t make me feel safe. We went out and came back to find the full length mirror had fallen off the wall! The wall paper was peeling off the walls. The shower head is moldy. There was hair (not from myself or my children) in the bed. There was no less than 5 different types of bugs not including the the dead ticks. The refrigerator handle fell off when my sister tried to open the fridge in her room, which also had a number of bugs in it.
My children and I were going to go sleep in the car rather than in the room because we at least knew that was clean. The relief that we felt when my sister knocked on our door and asked if we just wanted to make a very long drive back home was incredible. We couldn’t get out fast enough. I dumped my dogs expensive prescription dog food in the trash because I didn’t know if bugs had climbed into it. I have gone hiking with my dogs and children in the mountains and hiking cabins are in better condition.
The hotel representative later accused us of having cat litter all over the floor because she’s never seen dog food that looked like that. Interesting that the food was spilled all in front of the door yet not smushed in the carpet at all. I’m not sure how 4 people and a dog were able to walk in and out without breaking any of the kibble. I don’t think I could give negative bones but if I could I would. I have never been in such a disgusting place before. Do not stay here , god only knows what kind of bugs you or your dog is going to leave with.
- EileenJul 5, 2023Don’t stay here!
We pulled up at the motel, knowing we were early but figured we would make sure we were at the right place before we ventured out to check out the area. The innkeeper approached me and said, "You know you are 2 hours early!” I said yes but it was a long drive and I wanted to make sure I was at the right place before we went out. She said “You and everyone else! You are making the cleaning staff nervous and rushed!." I said no worries, we are leaving now and will see you later. Her retort was, “I would never show up for check-in early!” I asked which are was the most dog friendly. Her response was “This isn’t Europe.“ Not sure what that even means.
When we returned to the room, the key was left in the door! Then we discovered the mirror fell off the wall, spilling the prescription dog food onto the floor. And there were bugs everywhere. Ticks on the beds and in the bathroom!! We left!! Never stayed the night. Too many bad things going on here! I emailed the innkeeper and stated what I did here. Her reply was she would not charge extra for the “damaged“ face cloth (dirty from cleaning the mud from the rain). And that it’s a country setting and people and dogs bring in a tick with them!!
We had rented two rooms. BOTH were teaming with bugs, many ticks and what we think was a cockroach! There was also lots of human hair on the mattress. We have stayed in cabins in the mountains and didn’t have “extra critters“ as guests! I don’t want anyone else to worry about their pets sleeping with ticks and other bugs! Gross! Dog was bathed and all clothing washed. Just horrible.
- EileenJun 8, 2023Great!
This was the perfect spot to stop on our trip.
- CarrieMay 20, 2023What a gem
Had a great time! Lots of great walks for the pups! Nice location to Great Barrington!
- MarkMay 18, 2023Great spot
The pups and us had a great time. The host was very accommodating. Everything was nice and clean. There’s a fire pit out front too.
- JeanMay 15, 2023Great Location
Wonderful property conveniently located by Monument Mt. and dog friendly G Barrington. Sage loved the grounds, friendly other dogs & their people! Nice human breakfast and innkeeper. We will be back!
- FrancesOct 19, 2022Wonderful stay
This was a very comfortable, clean, and easy place for us to stay. The breakfast was perfect, the hostess Rhonda was so lovely, and our pup felt right at home. We will definitely go back sometime soon!
- GenevieveSep 14, 2022Great host, gross room
Just because we travel with dogs doesn't mean we should endure flat pillows covered in shams not cases. Bed cover and pillow shams were the blanket and pillow cases. Both were worn and faded from use and really flat. Toilet has a ring around the water line. The carpeting was awful. All this conspired against the well ordered host who has set up a super touchless check-in that works via text. I wish she would buy a new inexpensive carpet, actual pillows with cases and a blanket. Then a person could dismiss the ring around the toilet. Maybe. I was shocked that someone was charging me to stay there. I paid for the room but had to go somewhere else for the night.
- JonitaSep 11, 2022Great place to stay
Friendly and helpful host! Clean and comfortable.
- BeatriceAug 6, 2022Perfect for what we wanted
The innkeeper is charming, patient, and so helpful. The room is small, secure, and adorable. All rooms have a dog-themed mat! Huge area in the back for the pup to run. Walking distance to Monument Mountain. Free coffee and pastries in the morning, a wonderful fire and hammocks in the evening.
- JohnMay 19, 2022Please stay, convenient location
The room and grounds were clean and well maintained, although some of the furnishings showed some wear. The breakfast was decent. It is truly pet-friendly...I did not feel like I was under surveillance like some other so-called "pet-friendly" motels. The Innkeeper was friendly. While on a busy road, the motel is set back far enough that traffic noise was not noticeable. One issue is that the walls are not sound-proofed and you can hear noise from the neighboring rooms.
- ChrisOct 15, 2021It’s a lovely place for what it is
This isn’t the Ritz, it doesn’t pretend to be, but for a trip with your pup in the Berkshires, this is hard to beat. Walking distance from Monument Mountain, and close enough to everything- less than an hour to Greylock’s summit. Will be back for sure.
- CristelSep 14, 2020Convenient location
Clean, safe, dog friendly motel. Per Covid rules there is no staff on site and you call the number posted on the front door of the office to check-in and check-out. There are many dog friendly (outdoor seating) eateries and hiking trails within a 10 minute drive. Be advised there's no in room coffee maker (!) but Dukin Donuts is nearby.
- AnnOct 3, 2019Very Pet Friendly!
We had a great one night stay at the Briarcliff Motel with our 60 lb. pup. The room was clean, very comfortable and big enough to easily accommodate our dog’s travel crate. As an old style motel, parking is at your room door. Dogs are invited to join guests for breakfast in the cozy common room. You will be asked for a contact number in case you leave your dog alone in the room, which is allowed. The setting is lovely, the staff is kind and friendly and there is a large grassy area out back for dog walking. A fire pit and chairs in the front yard add a special touch for guests who want to socialize. We would gladly return when traveling in the Berkshires.
- Ann marieSep 9, 2019Great place for pups!
This place was wonderful! Cute rooms and pet friendly. Just down the street from the main strip in Great Barrington. Only spent one night here but we’ll definitely be visiting again
