Great Location - Perfect for Doggo

Despite the visible review on this page, I had seen this hotel in other dog-friendly blogs and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed and our pup was offered a dog bed and dishes for food and water. Humans were also offered complimentary cheese and wine! There are several trails available, even right off the parking lot that fulfills that feeling of being in nature while amongst the city. The pup loved the trails and close access to dog friendly beaches. The staff loved our pup and we would certainly come back again.

    WARNING ALL DOG OWNERS

WARNING FOR ALL DOG OWNERS...this hotel claims to be dog friendly, but does not feel it is important for dog owners to know ahead of time that dogs are not allowed to left unattended in the hotel room for any amount of time. While I understand that it is fair for a hotel to have this type of policy in place, I do not think that it is fair for hotel management to assume that owners know this. I was accused of being an irresponsible dog owner for even having considered allowing my well behaved, non disruptive dog to be left unattended for 2-3 hours (hotel manager compared my lack of this knowledge to being the same thing as leaving a child unattended, which is in fact a law and why everyone knows they can't do that, whereas leaving a dog unattended is not).

I called the day before my trip, to confirm their dog policy and ensure I would not have any issues before departing my home with my dog. All they felt was important for me to know was that the cleaning fee is $40. No mention of any of their dog rules. When I arrived to check in the following day, I had to sign a policy agreement stating that dogs could not be left unattended in the room. Having not know this ahead of time, I had no options to make other last minute arrangements for my dog (very difficult to find a pet sitter the day of) and was told my dog would not be welcome.

I contacted the hotel manager and explained how not being aware of this policy in advanced could really ruin someone's trip, as it did mine. He would not listen to any feedback to help future clients and was adamant that he would not change their procedures to inform owners of this ahead of time when making their dog reservation because he assumes that all responsible dog owners (not like myself, according to him) would know this. If I am going to have to sign a policy stating I agree to the terms when I arrive, I at least deserve to know this ahead of time so I can make all the necessary arrangements. I certainly don't consider myself an irresponsible dog owner, and I certainly don't believe that no other client has ever shared my same thought.

So please, if you are planning to bring a dog to this hotel, ask the hotel staff to read you all the policies on dogs ahead of time, because there are others in addition to this issue I have addressed, and I don't want anyone else to run into the same problem as me. I am trying to post this on all the dog friendly hotel sites, because I actually care about future dog owning clients unlike the hotel manager.
