- CassieJul. 22, 2018Our new favorite place to stay in St. PETE
My husband and I stayed at Baywaters Inn with our two dogs and had an absolutely fabulous time! We stayed in room 6, the Marylin room. The room was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. Each room has a fully equipped kitchen with full fridge. The ac gets super cold!! If you have 2 couples or a family, the best room on site has the best view and is the size of a small home. Room 8 is definitely where I would want to stay next time! Trust me, you will definitely want to stay more than one night. We originally booked 2 nights and wound up staying 2 more, and would have stayed longer if we could have!!
The Inn is the best place to stay if you have dogs. It's completely fenced, so your pups can feel at home running freely from your room, into the grass, out onto the dock and into the water. There's a basket of dog toys for your pups to play with and a super cute lab, named Sparky, who would love to roll around in the grass or play in the bay.
There's a washer and dryer on site that is free to use. It was really helpful having the w/d in the breezeway, easy to access and it was so nice to be able to wash some of our wet towels/dirty clothes. There are towels that are available for people and pets to use on site or to take to the beach. After the dogs went for a swim there was also a hose to rinse off the salt water.
The Inn is right on the bay with a beautiful dock that has steps right down to the water. We watched dolphins and manatees swim by. The dogs loved swimming there too! I would suggest bringing water-shoes of some sort for swimming. The water is pretty clear near the dock, but there are some oyster beds and sharp shells. We walked in the water with no shoes and were fine, but I would definitely recommend shoes for extra safety. You could easily put a kayak or canoe in directly from the Inn, which we plan to do next time. Also a nice floaty would be fun to just hang out in the bay.
The beach is a 10 minute walk away, but does not allow dogs. Fort de soto beach was about 20-30 minutes away. We took our pups there at least 3 times on our trip to their dog beach. We love it there and so do the dogs.
Baywaters Inn was really close to all kinds of restaurants. You can just walk down the street to many dog friendly places. Also, Publix was just a 4 minute drive away. We really enjoyed being able to walk around with shops so close by, but we also loved being able to cook at our own place. We cooked a majority of our meals there. They even have a charcoal grill that is available for use, charcoal included! Some restaurants around that are worth driving to:: Mazaros Italian Deli/Market, The Floridian for a cuban sandwich, The Seaturtle for the full english breakfast.. mmm
There are multiple fruit trees on site, including an avocado tree, peach tree, plantain trees, and prickly pear cactus. They even have a little garden with herbs and vegetables. The rosemary plant is doing really well and the dogs loved it. I felt like I was at home, but away from home. It was so nice!! I would get up in the morning, open the door and let the pups out. Make a french press of coffee and walk out on the dock and enjoy my cup of jo with the salty breeze and sun on my face. Even better when a dolphin just happens to swim by.
Seriously, can not wait to go back! It would make an awesome location for a wedding party or family reunion. I am trying to plan some way to go back, asap! Only this time I'm bring my canoe and water-shoes!

My husband and I have traveled all over Florida, and Bay Waters Inn is by far the place with the cleanest rooms and friendliest owner. The owner was there to greet us when we arrived, and there to thank us when we left. The new mattresses are heavenly, and the little extras - free bottled water in the fridge, quality toilet paper, paper towels - were noticed and appreciated. There was a new A/C unit in our room with a remote, which made it very easy to regulate the temperature. The property itself is welcoming with a great dock and chairs surrounding a fire pit. The owner is so accommodating, even allowing us to stay a little past checkout with no additional charge. Our small dog Sawyer felt right at home and there was plenty of space for him to roam around. If you want to stay at a pet-friendly place that is exceptionally well-run, then Bay Waters Inn is the place for you! We highly recommend it!

We had a wonderful time! Our dog was able to roam around off leash. John Michael and Brooks work so well with the dogs and their owners to insure a memorable stay! Would go back in a heartbeat!

My wife and I booked a few days this week. We have two small, young Yorkies and what a great time was had by all. The owners do everything they can to welcome all dogs and owners. The rooms are very comfortable, there are many dog friendly dining options near by. It is an off leash place and you can let your pups roam free which was a real treat for ours. Thanks you guys for making it a great stay for Vayla and Nikita.
- DonnaMore than a year agoBest place to stay with your furry friends.
I love that it is a small, quiet inn away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist district. The rooms come fully equipped with everything you could need if you decide to cook rather than eat out. I also love that there are no size limits on the dogs. With two labs it has been a challenge to find places that will accommodate large dogs. It was wonderful to be able to let the dogs run and not worry about anything since the property is totally fenced in. Dancer and Taffy were free to roam to their hearts content and they explored every inch of the property. Dancer especially loved running out on the dock and watching the water. I could see her mind working, trying to decide whether or not to jump in the water. If she had it wouldn’t have been a problem since the inn provides towels, a hose to rinse her off with, and a washer and dryer free of charge. A few blocks from the inn is a cute little shopping area filled with several boutiques and restaurants. The dogs enjoyed walking there since most shops had water out for them, and some even had treats. The owners of the inn are absolutely fantastic and do everything they can to ensure you have a pleasant stay. It was the best vacation we have taken with the dogs and we will definitely be back.

My dogs and I love BayWaters Inn! What a fabulous place with a lovely old-world FL feel. The dogs loved being able to roam and hang out in the yard or on the pier with me & I loved being able to confidently leave them for periods of time while attending Christmas parties & such. John-Michael & Brooks are just lovely people, and their laid-back, welcoming attitude is such a pleasant change from the daily hustle & bustle of our impersonal world. We will definitely be back!!

My husband, son, and I recently spent a delightful 3 nights here along with our dog, Luna. As others have said, John Michael and Brooks have created the ultimate in dog friendly accommodations. From the magnetic safety gate at the front entrance, to the grassy play area, to the steps leading to the bay from the dock, to the extra dog toys, everything is dog-safe and dog-friendly. But beyond that, this is a fantastic place for the owners, too. We stayed in the 2 bedroom, executive cottage, which was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable and well-equipped. There's even a KitchenAid standing mixer in the kitchen! Our son and his dog are attending a nearby college and we've decided this will be our home base every time we visit.

We recently stayed 5nts. We love this place! Old Florida and more. Hank, our Puggle, had a wonderful time! The property is great for dogs and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. We slept so good and the room temp never needed adjusted. We like to travel and Hank goes with us. This is a gem of a place.

We have stayed at BayWaters Inn multiple times now with our very energetic lab, Max. He loved the place so much, he started whining when we got close our most recent visit. Max is able to roam the yard, visit with the other dogs, and play in the bay... plus, he always manages to sucker John Michael into a few rounds of fetch, daily. Great location, beautiful views, quiet and relaxing, and truly a dog friendly vacation spot.

We stayed a couple of days while in St. Pete on business. We brought along our Labradoodle and didn't think we would have much trouble finding a dog friendly hotel. Thank goodness for this website for leading us to BayWaters Inn!! What a friendly, accommodating staff! Our dog was able to roam the fenced property and we felt so at home. John Michael has thought of everything a traveler might need, right down to the finest detail. We would most definitely recommend staying here!!

Brooks and John Michael have created an absolute oasis for bipeds and quadrupeds alike! Their hard work, dedication, compassion, and caring is beyond measure. Our dog Callie was able to run around to her heart's content within a completely fenced off space and pier. I cannot say enough amazing things about this hidden gem, y'all and your furry friend(s) will have a wonderful stay:)
- Bob & Mary AnneMore than a year agoWhat a great experience!
Jon-Michael and Brooks are absolutely wonderful hosts, hard-working owners who have turned this property into an eclectic, artsy, people- and dog-friendly paradise. We felt "at home" right away and our Beagle was able to roam sniff to her heart's delight all over the fenced-property. She made friends with the other dogs immediately. Quiet neighborhood, wonderful breeze coming off the water and chairs or loungers available...other guests were also friendly and it just felt like a fun, family reunion even though we were strangers. Rooms have everything you would want and are decorated very nicely...a mix of old Florida and new conveniences. We plan to visit again!
