My dog and I stayed at the Richards House mid-August. Don’t let the outside of the house deter you from a wonderful going back in time stay. The inside of this historic house is Beautiful!! The room I had was huge with a fireplace, siting area with two chairs in a cute nook of the room overlooking the street. The room had high cleans, very clean and super comfy queen bed. The bathroom was very modern with a big shower with rain shower head and glass doors. I loved the room!!!! 💕
There is a refrigerator in the hallway where you can put your leftovers if you go out to lunch or dinner. And the best part is there is wine 🍷 and beverages the guests can have and enjoy. Also the host made homemade baked goods 🧁 which is displaced on an antique wooden bookcase/shelf which was next to my room for people to indulge it. The cookies and muffins were some of the best I ever had!!! 😋
For people with dogs there is a large park 1 block from the B&B. It has large trees, picnic tables and was real nice to let my big dog run around in. There are garbage cans by the play area but be sure to bring your own doggie 🐶 poo bags.I had my breakfast “to go” in the morning. The hosts were fabulous to talk to and they liked my dog. I ate my breakfast in my car on way to MI and it was so good!!! The host also gave me 2 cups of piping hot coffee ☕️ for my journey. I have stayed in many B&B’s but The Richard’s House by far was the BEST! I will be back again on my way back home to CO. Thanks for the awesome hospitality and I loved your beautiful historic home!!

The bed and breakfast was wonderful! Don't let the disrepair on the outside scare you. The rooms are comfortable and full of antiques along with beautiful furnishings. The breakfast was fabulous. If you leave hungry it's your own fault. Our dog was welcomed with no questions asked.

Inside is nice, but cluttered and repairs are iffy. No dog amenities. Fortunately, we found a city park down the street but no doggie bags or waste cans.

I want to commend the owners of the The Richards House. They are working to return an old mansion to its former glory. Old portraits, antique gas lamps, a working piano, working fireplaces, stained glass, and room skeleton keys make this landmark a one-of-a kind B&B.
Our room was clean and quiet. It was air conditioned (thank God), and the temperature stayed nice and cool during the dog days of summer. The room was full of windows; each of which was adorned by beautiful stained glass - original to the home.
The adjoining bathroom had a large walk-in shower along with an old fashioned toilet with the tank hung on the wall. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were in the shower for our use. Clean towels and wash rags were provided.
Close attention was shown by providing all the guests with free sodas, water, wine (yes, free wine), and freshly baked items like muffins, cookies, and pound cake. The innkeepers left all of the treats on an old buffet outside the rooms in the hallway for anyone to serve themselves. All drinks were kept cold in a refrigerator.
Each morning the house was filled with the smell of homemade cooking coming from the kitchen downstairs. For breakfast we stuffed ourselves on hearty cuisines like crepes, quiche, bacon, eggs, baked pears, french toast, homemade syrup with bananas and nuts, orange juice, and fresh coffee. The innkeepers really put forth a lot of effort in offering a filling and delicious breakfast for their guests, as well as amazing ambiance.
But eating breakfast served by them was only half the fun. They love to sit down with you and offer polite conversation. They have many interesting stories to tell, and are ready to offer tourists ideas and places to visit during their stay.
Lastly, our Chihuahua, Leo, felt right at home. It's very important to me to be able to bring my dog with me on trips. I'm so glad I found The Richards House on BringFido!
We plan to return during Christmas this year (2020) so we can enjoy a roaring fire in our room, and gather round one of the the Christmas trees they put up for the Holidays. We plan to bring friends with us as well!
