###
This modern yet comfortable multi-level property is conveniently located on one of downtown Mill Valley’s most charming streets. Perfect for entertaining, this 2014 custom-built residence comprises 2,500 square feet and boasts expansive, private outdoor spaces and a detached studio. The nightly rate includes 12% city and county taxes as required by law.
The location and space
Mill Valley is located 20 minutes north of San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge. This modern Craftsman home is a private oasis located just steps from both downtown Mill Valley and many paths, trails, and parks. Sleek yet cozy, the home offers open-concept living and spacious outdoor areas, all perfect for entertaining. The quaint neighborhood is just around the corner from the heart of downtown’s shops (including the Mill Valley Market for all your food and beverage needs, located just three short blocks away), restaurants, cafes, theaters, and the award-winning library.
The home is also near renowned hiking trails, including the famed Dipsea Trail, whose legendary 680 steps start just a few blocks away. You can also hike to Muir Woods and Mt. Tam, while Muir Beach, Stinson Beach, Tennessee Valley, and Rodeo Beach are just a short drive away. Walk Score of 90 out of 100; daily errands do not require a car. Two Safeway and Whole Foods Markets are a short drive away.
The home comprises four main areas: the common areas (main level), the bedrooms (lower level), the studio (separate unit), and the outdoor spaces.
The open-concept sun-drenched upper level includes a living room, a chef’s kitchen, multiple dining areas (a dining table, counter seating, and island seating), a powder room (half bath), and a two-sided Art Nouveau gas fireplace. Kitchen appliances include a refrigerator, dishwasher, stove/oven, wine refrigerator, coffeemaker, toaster, and microwave (as well as other small appliances and kitchen tools to meet your cooking needs). The adjoining deck has a bird’s eye view of the yard below, rolling hillsides, and the quaint details of the picturesque hamlet of Mill Valley.
The lower level includes three bedrooms (one large master and two average-sized guest rooms), one small office, two full baths, and a stacked washer/dryer. The master bedroom features a four-poster king-size bed, en suite bathroom with a rain shower and soaking tub, a walk-in closet, and a private deck. The two guest bedrooms have queen-size beds and small closets. There is a small daybed in the office. All three guest rooms share one bathroom with a bathtub/shower combination and double sink, and open out onto deck/yard space.
The studio is a separate structure located behind the house; it is currently set up as reading library and includes a toilet, sink, and mini-fridge.
The expansive outdoor areas include two flat yards, a hot tub, a propane grill, a dining area, a towering Redwood tree, and several decks on a 6,500-square-foot lot. Despite being located downtown, the home feels very private due to its sunken yards, privacy fences, and abundant foliage. In the front, a steel gate opens to a carport that accommodates two cars.
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire 2,500-square-foot home on a 6,500-square-foot lot (huge for downtown).
Other things to note
Although this home is truly a retreat, it is located in a family-oriented neighborhood where loud music and other distractions are discouraged. Outside noise should be minimized or eliminated after 8pm.
There is one TV, located in the living room, which includes various streaming services (Sling, Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, etc.). Up to $20 in streaming content is included per stay; after that, guests may log in with their own account information. There is a portable JBL bluetooth speaker that guests may pair with their own device to listen to music.
Also, please note that, like most homes in the area, the home does not have air conditioning. The upper level, thanks to seven skylights, multiple windows, and a huge glass slider, can become very warm. The owners recently installed a ceiling fan to increase air flow, and fortunately, the lower level (where the bedrooms are located) remains relatively cool. There are also additional floor fans for guest use.
Please be advised that rates may be higher during the Mill Valley Film Festival (October), Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve.
