As the owner of a pit bull, I get skeptical about visiting places that claim to be “big dog friendly” but the Southwest Inn is exactly that! They were incredibly welcoming and there were several other dog families that stayed there, and they all were enjoying their stay. The room was exactly as advertised and I paid a little extra for the jet tub, which was well worth it after a long drive. It was also nice to be able to leave my dog alone in the room for the few times I ran about town without my dog.
The hotel has a beautiful mountain backdrop, a pool and a solid breakfast that goes well above continental. You can save money on buying breakfast somewhere else because they offer waffles, breakfast burritos and even cereal too if that’s your thing. There are also a couple restaurants within walking distance so you can grab some food and head back to the room outside of breakfast hours.
If there were any negatives, they were incredibly small ones that did not effect my stay. The only grassy area for Fido to relieve themselves is on the adjacent property a very small walk away. My dog isn’t a fan of going over rocks, so it was well worth the extra footsteps. The only other inconvenience worth mentioning is the loud air conditioning unit. I got used to it quickly and it did it’s job to keep the heat tamed, so it didn’t bother me much at all.
If I’m ever in the Sedona area again, I’ll gladly stay there again with my dog!

Excellent value! Felt refreshed after visit with large whirlpool tub and bath salts. Super dog friendly. Even gave treat and food bag for each of my large dogs. Love this place!
