  It served its purpose

  The room was ok. It was clean but a little outdated which we figured. They have the small toilets which I hated and the water wouldn’t drain from the shower fast so you were standing on dirty water. Besides that it was fine.

  Seamless

  Was a nice, clean, no hassle stay with two golden retrievers...its a great location as you can walk west to the ocean or south the the grocery store/strip mall. Everything is within 1/2 - 1 mile. Breakfast was nice, too! Really hard-working ladies in the breakfast area - THANK YOU!

  Easy with our XL dog!

  It was hard to find a place to stay for a short trip to Carlsbad with our XL dog. Albert is super quiet and gentle, but definitely not good a squeezing himself into small areas. I've never stayed at La Quinta. It definitely won't be somewhere I would stay w/o our XL dog-child, but I would be back if I'm in the area for a mini-staycation w/ our dog-child.

  It's a trap!

  I now know what it's like to spend a long weekend inside of somebody's sock. I don't leave reviews usually because I would rather keep my bitterness to myself but I am so mad about how much money we spent on this place. It seems like a safe booking because it's a three star hotel. You don't expect glamor, but you don't expect a swamp either. The carpets are damp and smell of mold and urine. Developed a sore throat and congestion the longer we were there, and it would get better when we left the room. The whole place is poorly ventilated and you can't open the window because of the freeway noise. We also overheard a complaint about roaches. The building pretty clearly has a structural issue- the cleaning staff seem to do and good job and the folks at the front desk are nice, but whatever moldy-mildewy-roachy nightmare is in the walls can't be fixed with a good scrub. We overheard it is under new management as of this week- good luck to that person, you inherited a biohazard.

  Good location

  Convenient ground floor room with outside exit. Able to take dog everywhere and easy to find relief areas. Lack of baggies only criticism but did not see any deposits so everyone must have taken care of their dogs or property did good job of picking up.

  Loved everything about this hotel except the carpets were filthy. Great beds, great water pressure and good breakfast. All but the dirty carpets.

  Quality of Stay

  For a location that allows dogs, this was just adequate. We found the hotel to be quite old and not very clean. Location was fine, but the hotel itself was pretty tired. We have stayed in other La Quinta's with our dogs and this was definitely not to the same caliber. Would not stay here again.

  It was okay

  Hotel dirty, dirty carpet, or black mold, made our feet black. Bathroom exhaust fan very loud & not working, room key cards much too touchy, had to replace 5 times in 4 days, several electrical outlets not working, coffeemaker had no outlet to plug it into & a baby sock behind console, closet smelled musty. Employees were nice. Every time I had a questions, they referred me to 3rd party booking. No manager available.

  Eh... ok

  It’s a La Quinta, so our expectations weren’t super high. But the top of the pool was covered with dead bugs… carpeted. I asked if they could skim it and they said they would but didn’t. Both ice machines weren’t working. The last night at 10:30 the carbon monoxide detectors went off calling the fire department so it was a rough night as everyone had to be evacuated, and we had a little one who doesn’t stay up that late. The staff said it was a false alarm and there wasn’t any fire. My husband who had inspected both the fire/smoke and carbon monoxide detectors said it was for sure not the smoke detector and asked the staff if the fire department had checked both and they couldn’t guarantee, but said we’d “probably be fine” (probably means we’d live through the night) not their fault but wasn’t reassuring, so we slept with the windows open, after considering sleeping in our car in the parking lot. But the 16 lane freeway was pretty noisy. Breakfast was ok/free. Staff was nice. And they let us leave our dog in his crate for a bit while we went out so that was nice. It’s ok. It’s about what you’d expect I guess.

  Girls/Dog friendly weekend. Reasonable price, no pet fee. Easy checkin, rooms nice, clean, comply beds and bedding. Maid service attentive. Grab and go breakfast worked for us. The staff member needed more help, but she did a great job. First time traveling with my 14 lb Terrier. Not crazy about elevator but loved the stairs. Grassy areas for walking. Only thing I missed was “ a view”. But this is not a resort. Would definitely stay here again!

  Just to let you know, La Quinta Inn now charges a pet fee of $20 per dog per night but only up to a maximum of 2 nights.

  Great Customer Service

  My dog has never had an issue with an elevator before, but he was deathly afraid of the elevator at this hotel. He is 118 pounds, so not easy to get on an elevator when he doesn't want to get on it. After spending one night there, he still wouldn't get on the elevator the next morning and he doesn't do stairs so I asked the front desk if it was possible to switch to a ground floor room and they had no issues helping me out at all. They didn't have any clean when I asked and said they would call me once they had one available for me and they were also willing to move all of my stuff to the new room for me. I declined that offer since I had a lot of stuff and some of it was heavy, but the offer was still amazing!! The hotel is definitely old, but the rooms have been updated and are very clean. The pet relief area was better than at most hotels and they even had doggie poop bags there. They are one of the most dog-friendly hotels I've been too in a long time!!

  Clean, Adequate Room

  We only needed to stay overnight with our dog in order to pick up a rescue bulldog 5-1./2 hrs from our home. Room was small and basic but served the purpose. We felt like it had been adequately sanitized. The A/C had a disinfectant smell which might bother some people. There is a large grassy area near the pool that was a very good pet area, and there are ivy beds right outside all the rooms.

  Walking distance to the beach and shopping center (e.g., Starbucks, supermarket, gas station, food, etc.). Rooms were nice and plenty of grass for your dog.

  Very pleasant experience!

  The cozy room was clean, the staff was super friendly, there are nice and plentiful pet relief areas, the jacuzzi and pool were clean and warm, the breakfast was great with so many variety of foods. We would definitely stay here again
