    Great locally owned hotel

Perfect for you and your furry bestie. Dog friendly rooms are not as nice as the others (e.g. not carpeted and you can’t get a king) but nice and clean. There’s a grassy area nearby too. Great breakfast (omelets made to order!) and the staff is kind and attentive.

    No hair dryer

We had a great first impression when we checked in with Cory at the front desk. Room was fine. Some deferred maintenance, but it's tough to keep up with a big place like that. I was very put-out after I washed my hair to discover that there was no hair dryer. Called the front desk and she said it might take a while because she had to find one. After 20 minutes I called friends in a different room and they said their room had one so I borrowed it. Another 30 minutes passed and a maintenance guy knocked on the door with a dryer. Ridiculous. Buffet breakfast was very unappealing. Poor selection of bread products for toasting. Cold French toast. Huge line for omeletes. A couple of little muffins. No pastries. No yogurt. No bagels. Ho hum.

GREAT for people, OK for dogs

We really loved this hotel! we booked last minute and for only 1 night, so these things weren’t a huge deal but still mattered. We couldn’t find any grass for our girl. Most patches are rocks. There isn’t an elevator in the hotel so it took a few trips to get our things and our girl’s things up the stairs. There are only 2 floors, so not a huge deal but still tough! It was a little inconvenient, but the beds were COMFY and the breakfast was really good! They have a really cool lobby and snacks. And it was quiet! 4 bones, just because of the grass patches and our girl is a diva so it was tough getting her to go 🤣

    Nice hotel

The hotel was fine but we did not see any grassy areas except for clear in the back of the parking lot and even that was covered in mostly pine needles. Our girls both got sap and pine needles stuck in their paws. Not a bad place to stay, just inconvenient when your pups want to go out in the middle of the night.

    Great last minute stay

We needed an emergency stay while our trailer got repaired. Nice staff at the desk and restaurant/bar. The pool was disappointing (cold and cloudy). Walls between rooms are thin- we had to call about the room next to us in the middle of the night but staff did ask them to quiet down (we could hear their phone ring!) The included breakfast buffet helped the value for us. Room was at least clean and roomy enough for our crate.

    Very pleased!

Super nice lobby and rooms. Everything was very clean. The breakfast buffet was super good. Bathroom was a little small and the WiFi didn’t work very well but those are minor issues. There isn’t an over abundance of grass for puppy potty breaks but lots of parking lot medians with rocks and some shrubs so as long as you don’t have a super picky dog you’ll be fine. Would definitely stay here again!

    Unsafe and dirty

Sketchy/unsafe outside, nice inside. To summarize, parking lot was unsafe + when we gave the front desk an fyi we were told to stop being nosy. Don't arrive here at in the evening as a solo female. Lobby was nice with restaurant options. Room was nice, seemed clean for the most part but there and eye makeup on my pillow which makes me wonder.

Dog stuff: Check-in was easy, we were put on 2nd floor accessible by stairs. Wood/vinyl floors. Small mini fridge if you need for dog food. No potty area but was grassy area between parking lot and highway. Careful over here, generally fine but we saw prickly pear cacti, beer bottles, and other garbage.

My friend and I arrived in the evening. Two 20-something females, so we were aware of our surroundings bringing our stuff in. There was a car w 2 men lingering, walking around the parking lot, and then up to my car once they thought we were out of sight. Told the guy at check in and got settled. He said that's not uncommon for people to hang out there being off the highway. Unfortunately we had to make 2 trips so on trip 2 they were still there and were now circling us very slowly in their car, both staring. We felt rushed to grab our things and run into the hotel. Being our last trip we could have called it good but thought to notify a new guy at the front desk that they were still there after all this time so no one else was made to feel unsafe, especially if traveling alone. He told us to stop "being nosy."

Under each door is a couple inch gap which we found very strange. You can hear everything going on in the hallway at all hours of the night. Not to mention the very loud AC in the room. I will never stay here again. The disregard for safety and cleanliness is appalling.

    Solid hotel, thin walls

The hotel was very nice. The room was clean and dog friendly. Breakfast was great. The only drawback was that we could hear everything going on in the rooms around us. Otherwise it’s a solid place to stay with your dog.

    Excellent Experience

My wife and I stayed for one night with one small dog. The check-in was a breeze, and we got a second floor room. A major plus is that the floors were hard laminate, so we didn’t have to worry about what might be lurking in a carpet. The room was clean, quiet, and well-stocked with Keurig cups. The room was very quiet and all three of us slept very well. The (free) breakfast was very good, with eggs and omelettes made to order. Although there were quite a few people at the breakfast, the staff was very well organized and efficient. I really wish more hotels still did breakfasts like this. One very minor downside was that since we arrived long after dark, and needed to potty the dog, it was hard to find a grassy area. Frankly, it’s places like this one that make me hesitate to award top scores to hotels. A five bone rating should be reserved only for hotels that live up to the level of service of this one. I’ll definitely stay here again, and I have already recommended it to friends and family.

    Filthy Floors

My dog has gotten sick both times we have stayed at this hotel, and I finally figured out why. The floors in the rooms for dogs are filthy. Also the evening staff for dinner will ignore you and act like you being there is an inconvenience. Terrible.

Very convenient location and easy access to local attractions

The hotel is VERY nice with a fair price. The hotel staff is being quite helpful, when help was needed.
The morning breakfast, with a chef at the omelette station. The absolute best hotel breakfast I have had in years. We will return when back in the area.

    Great location

The hotel was packed thanks to summer travelers but we were greeted with friendly service and taken care of promptly. Room service meals hit the spot and were served quickly. The only downside was lugging heavy baggage up two flights of stairs due to no elevator access. I got that workout in though!

    Nice hotel

Very nice room, but bathroom could use a facelift. Was clean and both the dog and I slept well. Great breakfast buffet sent us back on the road content and full.

    Amazing staff!

This hotel and their staff is amazing. Customer service as it use to be. Personable, value, cleanliness and safety. I stayed in several hotels for 45 days with my pets during corona. So many hotels eliminated their amenities and charged more embedded with large homeless communities.

The Academy exuded the quality of Disney World. They worked out a safe sensible plan to still offer their amenities. The staff makes you feel like friends . I will also note as a past business owner myself, this hotel is managed well financially and socially and the benefits are transferred to the customers. Love these people. John Wilkins should be proud of his staff. There may be homeless individual that pop up in the parking lot at night but compared to Denver or Westminster it’s really nothing to be concerned with. The police station is a block away. Just be smart.... you’re in a city. I never felt unsafe here and stayed two weeks.

    Great location.

Location was perfect. Price was great. Overall the hotel has a great set up. Our room was not clean however which made it disappointing. Very little grass options also and due to COVID you could only use the main entrance. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic. Would stay here again but would hope for a cleaner facility.

    Nice Stay

Spent two nights here and was very pleased with our choice of hotel. The rooms, while not luxurious, are perfectly adequate, clean with everything you need. Ate in the main restaurant one night and was impressed with the quality of food and the menu options were great, they also have a full bar. their breakfast was busy but well managed with an organized system to get a table in no time. They have an omelet bar which was awesome! the staff was very attentive and friendly. The only downside is that the hotel is on a busy street with little sidewalk space so walking your fur babies is limited to the parking space of the property and its surrounding businesses. I was traveling with my two dogs and the pet fee is $10+tax per night for both dogs.

Great price and Very nice and clean

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. The price was so reasonable that I thought I was booking a regular hotel. This hotel was much nicer than I thought it would be for the cost. It was Very dog friendly, had great staff, incredibly clean. I was impressed and would definitely book again. Sometimes if the pet friendly rooms are booked the manager can work something out. Great place!!

    great place

Found this with the app. It is really a great find. Very friendly. Nice room and definitely has more of a resort feel. Very large pool and cozy public seating spaces. Very good breakfast buffet included with an omelet bar. 10$ off coupons for restaurant eating. Nice to have a bar in the hotel. Convenient to many sites.
