I'm in between dwelling places having retired from teaching in California and returned to Colorado to live. I'm buying a house in a town near South Fork and needed a place to stay with THREE (3!) large dogs. We are in Cabin A which is small and basic but comfortable with a nice field in the back for walks. This is a stressful time for all of us, but the Spruce Lodge has made it better, though somewhat expensive for the long period I will be here.

Great place to visit.. The Spruce Lodge makes you feel like family and they have excellent hospitality. It is much like visiting family only much better!. Great restaurant and breakfast. Any Time of year! If you are looking for a five star stuffy hotel this is not the place to go. This is a five bone place with REAL people. ENJOY and Reserve Early!

The lodge is really cool in a small mountain town. I had messed up a reservation and accidently picked a non pet friendly room. the website is confusing so probably be better to call. Luckily they had a cabin open so they put us in there for same price as smaller room. Cabin B was nice. Water heater is in the living room so a slight smell of propane is present but if you keep a window open your fine. no danger. Its a old rustic log cabin. Everything was nice except the beds....they are really old spring mattress like..don't sleep to close to the edge or you will just fall off. But all in all the lady at the front was really nice and understanding and there is a bar and restaurant right next door which was very good as well.
