Was in very bad disrepair and spider webs everywhere. Not many options for eating with your dog. Lots of potential if upgraded and cleaned. The biggest draw is the lake views but couldn't use the balcony because full of webs and bird poop.

We happened upon Lake Barkly State Resort during a long road trip. We couldn't have been happier with the accommodation and the whole experience. The view was an unexpected surprise. Our only regret was we only had one night. We'll make another trip back to spend more time there. Our dog loved the long walks and snoozing on the balcony as the sun went down.

The area is just incredibly beautiful. The cottage was nice and very private. I would highly recommend the state park.
The only negatives were uncomfortable mattresses and no hair dryers, or things as simple as a plastic bag for garbage. But if you know ahead of time, you can bring those.I would return to the area again for sure.

Staff welcomed us and our labradoodle even asked to take pictures with him. Only place fur babies aren’t allowed is the dining room.
