  Doggone great experience

  Everything about the Days Inn Mackinaw City Lakeview experience gets five bones! =) My dog enjoyed the big room and felt instantly comfortable. We had plenty of access to places for taking a walk--and so scenic. He liked sitting in the window and watching the passersby. Customer service proved to be kind and good listeners. I highly recommend this site for pet parents as well as for those with limited mobility/need for an accessible room. Excellent resources. Thank you, BringFido. What a terrific first (but not last) experience!

  Quick one night stay

  This hotel is extremely outdated. The first room given had a hole in the wall and the slider to the porch area had no lock. NONE. The top security latch was missing and the lock on the door itself did not work. Looked as if someone tried to “break out” of the room. When we notified the front desk, she was sweet and gave us a second room. This hotel is in a great location. Especially if you want to hop aboard Sheplers Ferry. The parking lot is directly behind the hotel. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. They do have a nice area for your 4 legged babies and the patio was nicely fenced in for our pup.

  Not the best

  There was a bit of a mix up when booking this location - it accidentally double-booked. BringFido was called right away and they handled it great! They called the hotel to get it refunded and the front desk said they refunded it! Unfortunately, when we arrived, a new front desk clerk was there and she denied the refund, as they don't do refunds. She was very very rude and would not listen to the fact that it double-booked when we hit submit! We showed here the time stamps on the email confirmations, and still, NO REFUNDS. We again called BringFido, they escalated the issue and called hotel again; after speaking to the original front desk clerk, they got the refund approved. Again, BringFido was great, they had fantastic customer service, Days Inn on the other hand could use some training in hospitality. I also want to mention that the hotel was very very dated and very dirty.

  Pleasant enough

  After deciding that morning to take a trip to Mackinaw, we found ourselves suddenly in need of a hotel that welcomed larger dogs. This was the only decent option for a reasonable price. The woman at the front desk was bubbly & the room felt clean upon entering. The longer I stayed the more cobwebs on the ceiling, dead bugs in lights, and mineral buildup with filth stuck in it I noticed, but it felt like the basic cleaning was done well. The room was outdated in every way imaginable, except the bed, which seemed newer & was comfortable. I would stay again if necessary, but would prefer to go somewhere updated and likely more clean with a better ac unit.

  Not fit for man or best friend

  Pet friendly should not equal not maintained. The room and particularly the carpet was beyond filthy. So bad we refused to remove our shoes and contemplated wrapping our pups feet. After 90 minutes it was clear that there was simply no way we could sleep in such awful surroundings that we walked away from the $275 pre paid for ONE NIGHT and relocated to a lovely Hampton Inn an hour away. We do not have crazy high standards, but this place should be avoided at all cost.

  Great Hotel to Stay with Dogs

  Dog rooms are located in a single story section which makes for quiet nights and no thumping and bumping during the night. Hotel is located right on the beach with plenty of grassy areas to walk.

  Very Pleasant Stay here!

  We were favorably impressed with this hotel and their gracious staff. It was clean and comfortable with a view of the lake. AND the pillows are the best!

  Perfect location

  The hotel is perfect for a quick trip. Very dog friendly, lovely view of lake, walking distance to Mackinaw City and Star Line ferry.

  Was a great location for all activities

  While the facility is dated, it is kept up with care! The staff were friendly, efficient & dog oriented. The sign in the lobby says “I work my job to keep my dog in the lifestyle he deserves!”

  Overpriced and grungy carpet from 1970s

  3x cost of nearby hotels. Room was gross, nasty carpet. Didn’t even stay there. Ended up booking a second hotel.

  Clean Easy walk to everything

  My guy and I travel with two big dogs. It can be hard to find a place that will take a husky and terror mutt. THIS hotel was recommended to us by one that had a weight limit. I half expected a place willing to take big dogs to be somewhat of a dump. It was not. It was clean and comfortable. It was not super pricey either. There was plenty of grass for the dogs to walk on and almost NO piles of dog logs. We made sure to clean up after ours of course. It was easy to get our dogs out with out disturbing a whole hotel.

  If you are hung up on having everything be ultra new and ultra modern you wont like this hotel. It is dated and the bathroom small. HOWEVER it was VERY clean. The rooms that have individual patios or balconies are nice. Each patio or balcony has an approximate 4' tall fence with narrow spaces between the fence parts. Our dogs were able to walk in and out of the room with out worry they could jump the fence or fit through the bars. A smaller dog could get through them. It was just a super nice feature in my eyes. It allowed our husky to have a bit more freedom than four walls. We plan on staying here again.

  The lake view was perfect, the room was impeccable, and the staff was top of the line. I only wish there was a beach.

  Beautiful Rooms

  I had a suite with a queen bed, pull out couch, and a jacuzzi tub. The room was clean and well maintained. The staff where a little hard to locate, but they accommodated our early check in and we were so grateful!

  Great location

  Great rate, Room was clean, and very comfortable. Staff friendly. Had a door out on ground level for toileting my dog. Had a fridge. Only problems: Lamp didn’t work, and register on the floor was falling off. We did enjoy our stay.

  Do not stay here!

  I don't expect a lot out of a hotel that accepts dogs, but this was disgusting. The carpet was wet, it smelled, and was stained. The paint/ wallpaper was chipped on the walls. It seemed to be missing furniture (chairs, tables, etc.) The top sheet was dirty, bathroom was outdated and not sanitary. Everything felt gross and not clean as it should be. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone else.

  Not what’s showen on the website

  The hotel appears nice from the outside, rooms are out dated. They have a pool on site that looks like it’s has been under reconstruction for years! I was told we could use the pool at the hotel next door, they said they had an agreement with them. They have a restaurant on site that is closed and appears to have been for a long time. Friday night we had a heavy rain storm at which part of the roofs facia feel off, part of it landed on our balcony with a lot of rotted wood too. Our view from the main floor was the parking lot for Star Lines ferry boat.

  Excellent location with a great view!!!!

  Most everything was within walking distance. The room had a great view of the lake and just a short walk to get on the ferry to Mackinac Island!!!! Very friendly desk staff and cleaning staff.

  Dirty and rude

  Carpet was disgusting and stain covered, check in was at 3 room wasn't even ready till at 4, pool was under construction, free breakfast was unavailable. Not worth $300 at all!!!

  It was everything I expect of a Days Inn

  It was accommodation at the last minute that accepts pets. So that was good... It was not unhygienic, but it did not feel clean either... The beds were adequate... But the TV, and more so, the remote was the worst I have ever used... The remote was overly complicated, and the screen frequently reverted to a setup screen... Just a pain in the butt....
  And not for nothing, the pool was closed, which was ok in itself, but it was enclosed, with sliding doors along one side, that were open. And there was 3 or 4 foot of dirty water in the pool, making for potentially tragic, deadly situation if children wandered into the closed pool....

  Just awful

  This hotel was a run down dive. Tiles broken in bath, mold on ceiling, pool not open, not even a working ice machine. I would never stay here again.

  Great place for dogs

  From the pet friendly aspect, very dog friendly. Unlike other hotels in the area that charge per dog per night, they just charge $25 (we had 2 dogs for 2 nights). And it was very convenient to a dog-friendly brewpub across the street. From a hotel standpoint, we paid $69 a night. I can’t expect much. But it was clean, quiet, and friendly. The advertised free breakfast was at another motel. I would stay there again if traveling with dogs.
