This is not a luxury hotel. For the price, it was a good value. It was clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good with a nice selection. The hotel is old, the bed is soft and a bit lumpy and the bathroom door was damaged. The room was spotless, smelled clean and was quiet. Our German shepherd was content. Although you are on University Parkway there is a nice wide sidewalk for walking toward WFU campus. I would reserve a room again if I need to find a place quickly in Winston Salem.

The staff at check-in were nice and made the process easy. Our room was nice and clean. It was also well situated so we could easily take our dog in and out. The only drawback is no grassy spots for the dog, but there are mulch areas around the parking lot and you can walk your dog along a stretch of grass a little farther out from the hotel. Location of the hotel was good, too. Just an easy 35-minute drive from the state park and 5-minute drive from dog-friendly downtown.

The hotel was perfectly clean and the staff was wonderful, but there wasn’t a designated dog walk area. The only place to walk the dog is on a busy street in a somewhat sketchy area.

Safe Stay: Best Western Plus University Inn has enhanced cleaning and safety measures in place, and follows the We Care Clean (Best Western) cleanliness and sanitization policy. Hand sanitizer is provided to guests, and rooms are disinfected between each stay and sealed after cleaning. Social distancing measures are in place, as well as physical barriers between staff and guests. Contactless check-in and check-out are available. Each room has a 24-hour gap period between stays, and hotel staff are required to wear masks.
