Good stabilizer for a CCL injury.
My 97 lb Rottweiler female had this affliction twice before, although not as severe as this time. I still opt out of surgery since it is very expensive and promised no less scar tissue, arthritis or even a better outcome than simply waiting the two months to see if she would begin placing weight on it and progressing from there. Customer support for the brace is quite good. But the purchase and use of the brace is not for the weekend warrior. You have a learning curve to go through simply to learn to put it on properly and stay on. You have a very slow healing injury so it will be sometime perhaps before you will see any improvement. The stabilization of knee is paramount as the dog heals since the dog is ready to return to his old routine much sooner than the knee actually is. I found that once she started placing weight on her leg, she also wanted to spring jump, etc also. The brace reminded her of her injury and also kept her from re-injuring it. She is presently 10 weeks from her injury and is spending at least 30 min three times a day walking with it. She is only 4 yrs but not really a hi-energy dog. So I allow her outside to walk without the brace in late evening. She does not wear the brace inside at all. If I had to do it over, would I spend that money for the brace again knowing what I know now? Probably since it has stabilized her leg. But, if you are considering the purchase of this brace or any other, for that matter. You must master the proper application of the brace and its use or perhaps risk further unnecessary injury to your dogs leg, Keeping the brace firmly in place on the dog is achieved without slippage with a neoprene sleeve attached first then the brace. The application of this sleeve is crucial to the success of the brace staying where required. Good luck.
