  Great organization to foster for and adopt from

  I have been a foster for Rescue Warriors for quite a few years. In March of 2016 we had to put down my one of my dogs. A week or so later I was contacted by RWC to foster a dog that was being returned. She was a 1 year old American Staffordshire terrier. Her family was returning her because they said she was a threat to kids, cats, and dogs. I’ll be honest I was nervous. I have kids, cats, and another dog plus I had never fostered an adult dog. The representative from RWC talked to me. She had fostered this dog before it was adopted and she didn’t believe what the family was saying. I agreed to give it a shot. When I went to pick up Purdy she was playing with a group of puppies and the person that was holding her tested her with her large dog and Purdy had shown no issues. Feeling so much better about it I took her home. She was amazing with my kiddos. She liked to give my cats a good chase here and there but I was never worried for their safety. However my adult female dog in the house was not accepting. I was freaking out because my dog was acting aggressively to Purdy- thankfully Purdy just let it roll off. I asked RWC to find Purdy a new foster home but told them I would hold her until they found one. In the meantime I spoke with them almost daily. They offered to come to my house and help me. They guided me in helping them adjust. As things started to get a little better I decided to keep fostering Purdy. I mean she is an amazing dog. I tried to get my sister in law to adopt her. After about 4 weeks and lots of phone calls to members of RWC the girls worked themselves out but Purdy was still looking for a forever home. One night my husband let me know we were going to adopt her. He didn’t ask he just told me. She was an awesome fit in our home. We foster failed with her. She is our daughters best friend. Without the guidance of RWC during the transition into our home for her as a foster we would have given up and missed out on on this amazing dog. I appreciate all the phone calls they took (and still sometimes have to take about my other fosters). Thank you RWC for not only teaching us to be better fosters but giving us our crazy Phoebe fka Purdy.

  Ps- I have had her for 2 years and I still have yet to see her be a threat to anyone or anything unless you count overkissing a threat

  Great group of dog lovers. I have adopted 2 dogs and couldn't be more pleased with my experience.
