Horrible place to bring your pet

Dropped our pups off for a few days and when I came back to pick them up, one of them doesn’t act the same. She acts scared when someone approaches her when she never used to do that. When I brought a problem up to the supervisor he was unprofessional and treated the stay like a greedy hotel and did not care about the issues. This is NOT like a second home, this is an overpriced motel.

Great place to take your dogs!

I don’t leave my two with just anyone, CKPR is definitely a second home.

    ** NEGLIGENT & UNSAFE **

**DO NOT TRUST YOUR PETS TO THIS NEGLIGENT, CARELESS FACILITY**
We left our dogs in the care of Central Kentucky Pet Resort for an overnight stay just this past weekend, (Nov.10th-Nov.11th). One of our dogs is diabetic and recently had cataract surgery. Central Kentucky insisted medication would be no issue. We provided all medications and supplies, (including syringes for required insulin), gave verbal instruction at drop-off, as well as providing a hand written copy of instructions with the measured amount of food for both dogs. After picking them up on Sunday, November, 11th, we realized there were too many syringes for our diabetic dog to have received the correct number of injections, and there were two servings of food left over, one for each dog. Obviously, both dogs missed a meal, one dog missed at least one insulin shot and likely all prescribed eye drops following his surgery.

I contacted the kennel immediately upon this discovery, but they were already closed for the evening. I left a message outlining all of this information and demanded an apology and a full refund for their negligence and lack of care for our animals.

I called again yesterday to follow up since I had not received a call in the late afternoon. I was advised that the manager was aware of the issue and was consulting with the on-call veterinarian and owner, and would call me tomorrow. Today, November 13th, I finally receive a call. The manager admitted to the lack of communication, but insisted our dogs were properly cared for. He repeated that he can guaranteed our diabetic dog received insulin because, and I quote, “I drew the needle myself. I used one of our needles because they are all the same, I drew the insulin, handed it to the assistant that was with me and instructed her to give Bandit his injection”. First of all, not all insulin syringes are the same, there are two different variations, and seven units are very different amounts depending on the syringe used, which is why we provide our own. Secondly, after he could not confirm that our dogs were even fed, I advised that if Bandit was in fact given a full dose of insulin on an empty stomach, he could go into hypoglycemic shock, to which the manager responded, “but did he?”..

After admitting to lack of communication, poor / neglectful care of our dog, the manager advised he would not issue a refund and threated his actions if I dispute the charges with my bank. I have not only already disputed the charges, but I have reported this facility and that manager to the State Veterinarian within the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Animal Control, Scott County Humane Society, as far up as reporting this facility to the Kentucky Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, to ensure animals are no longer left in their care.
