    In-home vet visit

I have been thinking about the visit for some time now; & I am very disappointed. The vet charged me over $200 for rabies vaccine, manual check of Shadow's under belly, & nail trim. She did not check his heart with a stethoscope, check the ears & mouth, teeth, etc. I metioned that my cat is deaf - her response: we do not have hearing aids for cats [not even a test to verify]. A flat white scale was brought in; but my kitty cat was not weighed because vet said we have to go to our next appointment. I have been to vets over many years with my doggies & former cat; & I witnessed a thorough check-up with every check-up, which was NOT done during your vet's visit my home. She was rushed, given the end of day & she had another appointment to attend.

    Negligence killed our pet

They killed our cat. She died of sepsis last night after a routine spay appointment. Felt entirely ignored and brushed off after bringing her back twice and told it was just a mild reaction to the stiches. Emergency Vet last night was appalled when we showed her pictures of Catalina's stomach on the day we took her back to the vet the last time, and she questioned if anyone actually looked at her during that trip.

    Good Vet But...

Dr. Kristen Vance is a good, caring veterinarian. I'm surprised that she can continue in practice as the communication by her and her staff is atrocious. Over the years, more times than not I ended up fuming by the complete lack of follow up by her and her staff. I had multiple instances that I had to go to other vets for urgent care due to the Doctor's unavailability during regular business hours.

    Wow!

To the Devastated Family that blames Homeward Bound for the loss of their pet.... I am very sorry for your loss and understand your devastation, but there are Veterinary ER's that are set up and equipped to handle any emergency when your vet cannot see your pet right away. I just had my first appointment with Homeward Bound and it was a prayer answered for me. I have a little dog that has been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and is at great risk when she gets frightened or too excited. It became a real issue when we would take her to a vet for blood work or follow ups. The last time she was so scared at the vet's office her heart rate jumped to 300 bmp and she was at risk of sudden death. So I scheduled an appt with Homeward Bound to come out and examine her and do her blood work to make sure everything was okay considering she is on so many medications. They came out and were so wonderful. Instead of Katie shaking and panting and being in a state of complete terror, she was licking their noses while they drew her blood! She was calm and relaxed and it was a wonderful experience for all of us. They did a thorough exam and hugged her and loved her as if she was their own. Katie stood at the door and watched as they drove off. I would do this again in a heartbeat! As a matter of fact they are coming back next week with the mobile truck to do an x-ray to confirm that Katie is stable and doing well.
