    Winter Outdoor Dining

There is an enclosed “porch” area that is heated. Our dog was well received by all staff. Good food. 10/10

    Great when the weather isn’t

Very welcoming and tons of space for your pooch!!! Wonderful place to go if the weather outside is frightful. The area is covered, blocked from the wind and has heaters which makes it a cozy place to take a pup. We had the pizza and a couple beers, both were delicious!!!

Wish we would have found this place earlier

Our visit was in October on a windy, rainy day. The patio was covered and had heaters to keep us comfy. There were multiple dogs there which made us feel welcome. If your dog is leary of other dogs, know that it gets busy and another dog may be seated next to you. Our dog made quick friends with the dog seated by us. Yes, we were told he had to stay on the ground so we brought out his blanket and a bully sticky to keep him occupied. He was warm and content staying there. We had the apple crisp dessert and it was delicious. If we wouldn't have just eaten, we would have tried the pizza. It smelled and looked delicious. The beer and ciders were excellent. The flights are on little train trays and the tappers are railroad spikes, perfect for their location and name. The King's Line cider was my favorite and left with a growler of it. I wish we would have gone here earlier in our getaway.

    Bully not welcomed

We have had a very pleasant visit in the past when our Pittie/Staffy visited at 5 months old. This visit a particular male host decided to recommend we leave “for the safety of the children”.

    SO FRIENDLY TO DOGS

we received exceptional service with our dog on the patio and everyone was more than happy to come up to pet our dog and make sure his water was replenished. one of the most dog friendly places we visited in Traverse city.

    So welcoming and accommodating

we stop there for dinner the first night about 6 PM and the weight was about 45 minutes so we decided to come back the following day about 1pm. The wait was about a half an hour but there is plenty of shaded areas for you and your puppy to wait. They provided water and staff was very friendly towards our puppy. Would definitely definitely definitely recommend taking your pup for a nice meal here.

    Awesome Service

Great place. It was my pups first outing to a restaurant and I had never been there before. They were great. Brought her water. Made sure we were in shade. And the food and drink were awesome.

    We love this place!

Love how much outdoor seating there is here. The pizza is a little expensive for the size, but definitely a great place to take your dog.

    Great location and pizza!

After a day of hiking some local trails with our 9 month old German shepherd we wanted to find a place to get a quick lunch. The Filling Station outdoor area is across from the park/lake so the view is great. You can access the park from a walkway west of the restaurant. They had outdoor heaters for each table but being winter right now be sure to dress properly. Spring/Summer would be great! The beer and pizza was great. They also provided a bowl of water for the pup. We will be returning!

Super Pup Friendly And Awesome Food!

Our fur baby was greeted with open arms. since covid we have been trying to find places with patios and this place is top notch. With it being 40 degrees outside we were a little skeptical but the heaters all around the patio really make it warm and cozy!

    Cute Little Place

Limited menu (only serve pizza) but it was some of the best flatbread pizza I’ve ever had. Beer was very good. Very friendly service, even provided a dog dish with ice. We will be back.

    Dog Friendly with no issues

We were on vacation last week and after looking at our Bring Fido restaurant options we decided to try the Filling Station Microbrewery. We had no issues at all having our small puggle with us for dinner. We waited about 15min and was then sat at an outdoor table with plenty of space for him to sit underneath. Friendly staff, great food, very fresh ingredients. I recommend this establishment with your dogs, no fuss, no problems.

Great space for dogs, pizza, beer...

Brought our 4 year old and 5 month old Goldens here for a pint. Wooed by the pizza menu and not disappointed - amazing wood fired flat breads. Water bowls, plenty of shade and many pets from friendly staff and patrons! Highly recommend.

    Loved It!

They were super awesome as soon as we walked in! They made sure we had masks (thanks covid), that Barley had a bowl of water as soon as we sat down, and that we had heaters placed close by since we have a pup and a toddler! We will definitely come back!

    Dog Friendly!!

Traveling to the area with our pups. It was a bit cold but sunny and we sat outside on the patio. They turned on the heaters for us and brought out water for our dogs. Everybody kept coming out to pet them. Menu is small but the flatbread pizza and beer were good. FYI you go inside to order your beer and food.

Dog Friendly? Only if your pet is silent

I was excited to visit this restaurant after reading the reviews. Upon arrival I made sure having my dogs with us was okay with the restaurant and I was assured as long as they’re well behaved and leashed they are welcomed. We picked the picnic table outside furthest from everyone and gladly shared it with a lovely couple and their young daughter who adored our dogs. We had people coming up and greeting us and our dogs, loving on them..even a mother and child whom was under 1years old and our dogs were so sweet with her. After a few moments of our younger dog barking we were approached and told if our dog didn’t quiet down we would have to leave. Now...if you are a dog friendly restaurant, you have to expect this from a dog. This is no different than having a baby whom could be crying. Would you still ask me to leave? We made sure to walk away with our pup to keep her occupied but her voice carries... all I’m asking is to not say you are a dog friendly restaurant if you’re not going to accept the actual reality of a dog and not except my dog to be mute.

    Friendly Staff

After reading reviews and deciding we didn’t want to spent our life savings at another restaurant, we gave this a try. We were greatly warmly and shown to the outdoor patio where we could choose our own seating. After reviewing the pizza, salad and drinks menu, we ordered at the bar. The food was good. Be prepared to have limited food options however. The offerings are basically hummus or a house-made ale cheese dip for appetizers, 4 salad options, several thin crust pizza or a build-your-own pizza option and a list of various sodas and craft beers. We ordered a salad, 2 dinner pizzas and a strawberry rhubarb dessert pizza. The dinner pizzas were alright. The dessert pizza was delicious. Most importantly, the staff were very attentive and friendly, and brought out a fresh bowl of water for our girls straight-away. Not bad overall.

    Great Brewery!

We came to Michigan on vacation with our two big dogs and got rained on (typical Michigan in the summer). We came to the Filling Station because it allowed dogs outside and there was an overhang to shelter us from the rain. They were amazing. The staff was polite and accommodating. It was a tad bit chilly outside, so a staff member drug two propane heaters to the table we selected and lit them for our convenience. They brought out a water bowl for our dogs. On top of that, the food was great, the beer was great, and the people there were just all around polite and fun to be around.

Understand the law before a negative review

Please understand that health codes mandated by local and state laws restrict pets from establishments that serve food. Being a dog owner, it's advised that you know local laws when visiting somewhere. The fact that this, and other local restaurants allow pets on the patio is a privilege not a right. It's not their fault that you didn't inquire about their policy before arriving.

Being from TC, I know a lot of the restaurants listed here are because they have a patio and choose to allow pets. Bring listed on this site guarantees nothing.

I've found that calling ahead can save a lot of aggravation.

    Elizabeth and Meltem response

The State of Michigan only allows dogs on a patio if there is no food served on the patio. You can bring your own food outside but wait service cannot bring you food in a dog friendly patio area.

The restaurant has to go through strict inspections and red tape in order to get a variance permit so that you can bring your dog onto the patio where they have wait service.
If they are granted this variance they have strict rules to abide by. One being that dogs are not allowed on the table, on a chair, or in a lap. the dog must remain on the ground.
So give the restaurant a break, they went through a lot for you to be able to bring your dog to their establishment. The least you can do is abide by the rules-your dog is perfectly fine being on the ground while you are there.
I have a small throw rug that I roll up and take so he has a comfortable place to lay and knows that that is his area to stay in so he's not bothering other guests or getting his leash tangled.

Do not see how this place is listed on Bring Fido.

We just had one of the most irritating dinner experiences of our life as dog owners. We are from New York and visiting Traverse City with family from the area. We travel everywhere with our little yorkies that we carry around in their bags. They do not come out of their bags.
We decided to go to the Filling Station because it was listed on Bring Fido and we had seen that they had outdoor seating. We arrived there this evening with our family and our yorkies in their bags. We selected a table outside and as soon as we sat down a woman came up to us and said “...if we had dogs they had to be leashes and on the ground”. At that time I had both my dogs on my lap inside their bags, so I said “...how about on my lap and inside their bags?” To which the woman answered her scripted and parroted her absurd response of “...oh, this is a food serving area so all 4 paws in the ground”.
So, my 7 pound, pristine clean yorkie, inside his zipped bag could not be held on my lap.
I really hope that anyone who reads this understands the absurdity of this. I am not even sure if this is the official rule of the restaurant or if this woman was just saying random things to me.
I only stayed because we were visiting with family members and it was our treat. Otherwise I would have never wasted my money on this place.

    Great spot

Pizza is ok and the brews are good. We love being able to eat here with our dog in tow. We also saw several other dogs on a packed Saturday night on the patio.

    awesome restaurant

The restaurant patio overlooking the train tracks and water was perfect for our two young children 3 and 5. We also brought our boxer and labradoodle. They had dishes for water. Service was quick. There were many other families with dogs there at the same time.

    Dogs only allowed outside

I walked in to the building bc it’s not labeled where to go- coming in from handicap side- was immediately approached by, I guess, a manager who straight up told me dogs had to stay outside and outside only- not a hello can I help you? Obviously I had no idea what I was doing- I was inside... anyways we order our food and a bar back was kind enough to follow me to our table with water. As soon as I approach the table I placed my ten Lb Pom on the bench and was told dogs have to stay on the ground- can I have a minute to put my beer down or did you expect me to drop my dog to the ground?! Overall, horrible experience. Beer was ok location is great, but if you don’t immediately know what you’re doing- we’ll, I hope you don’t take it personally... I will not be coming back.... P.S. if I want to hold my dog and let her sleep in my lap while I eat that’s my choice I don’t need to be yelled at, thanks! Any fur parent of a little pup or ankle bitter knows how important it is that they feel safe. There were big dogs around and it’s not always safe to have a little one on the ground. Regardless, work on your hospitality- and servers too... asked for two small boxes... came back with a HUGE pizza box!!?! Huh?!

    Perfect Dog Friendly Stop

The covered patio here has many picnic table style tables under a covered patio overlooking a lake. When we asked if they allowed dogs we were enthusiastically told “hell yeah! Bring them in!” We enjoyed a couple of beef flights, pizza, and salad there. After dinner we walked across the street to enjoy the waterfront park too! Definitely check out this great location with your pup!

Nice place for dogs but food is mediocre

We walked over 1 mile to the restaurant on a hot day in Michigan so we were happy to see the outdoor seating was in the shade so our dog could cool down. There was lots of space for our dog but the food was just mediocre. My husband's pizza was burnt and my pizza was just okay. I wouldn't go there for the food but the outdoor space for dogs was great.

Great place together dinner with the dog.

The patio can be extremely busy. We had to wait a short time to get a seat. I really thought this would be a problem with the dog. However everybody was friendly and wanted to meet the dog. The server brought out a bowl of water without even being asked. Will definitely visit against before the end of our vacation. The pizza and beer were good too!
