Only outdoor table is in the sun

It was a very hot and sunny day, 98+! There is only one table outside of the shaded area and in the direct sun. It would not be difficult for the restaurant to add shade over this area, not just for the dogs, but for the humans who sit there with their dogs. If they were truly dog friendly they would take this action. The other option was for the human to sit under the shaded porch while your dog sits outside the fence in the parking lot. NO WAY! We ended up leaving and eating downtown near the USNA at The Boatyard Markwt - which gets 5+ bones for treating dogs and humans fantastic. Plenty of shade on the front porch, big bowl of water, the crab cakes were awesome and the staff went out of their way to take care of us and Fido.

Dog "tolerant," but not exactly "friendly"

Cantler's is a cute little riverside crab joint with good service and good food. However, I wouldn't describe it as "dog friendly;" at least, not when the weather is too cold for the patio to be open. When we arrived around 4pm on a Sunday in late November, the only place our pooch was allowed was at the "dog table--" a sad little picnic bench just outside of the covered patio. The heated patio on the other side of the building wasn't open and the other members of the party felt it was too cold with sun setting to sit at the dog table outside. So, we had to leave our furry family member in the car while we ate (I checked on her every 20 minutes or so). I'd call this place more dog "tolerant" than friendly.
