  Would definitely recommend this location! Though it was too cold for the outdoor area to be open, as soon as we said we had our pup with us, we were enthusiastically directed to the enclosed and heated patio. Our server was kind and accommodating and other wait staff even stopped through to say hi. For the humans, food was amazing and the atmosphere was wonderful!

  Awesome spot!

  Plenty of outdoor seating. Staff brought a water bowl over without having to ask as soon as we sat down. Food is delicious and there’s a parking garage right next door so parking is a breeze.

  Awesome spot!

  great spot for good food and a beautiful patio to hang out on with the pups! the wait staff was so nice and brought ice water to our pups & treats! we will be back if we drive through Kansas City again!

  Definitely Dog Friendly

  Unlike some places where dogs are somewhat of an afterthought (e.g. one or two tables on the street where you and your dog can dine), Char Bar is all in with dogs. They start with standard and reasonable dog rules posted on the patio entrance, which just lets me know they are prepared to host dogs. The patio is very large, much of it shaded. They have a full bar and a decent menu featuring local brews and various BBQ’d items. Bottom line it was a good place to bring Fido and enjoy some KC BBQ.

  Great Place for Dogs & Humans

  The waitstaff & Food was AMAZING!!! They were very attentive to our dog and brought her water upon our arrival. The KC BBQ was outstanding.

  Great Outdoor Patio

  Great outdoor space for you to enjoy a meal with a dog in tow. Dogs are limited to the patio, and there are areas within the patio that are restricted to pets. Dog bowls aren’t provided or allowed to be distributed by the restaurant, so, bring your own!

  Fabulous place for dogs and humans

  We throughly enjoyed Char Bar! the outside area is extremely dog friendly with lots of tables both covered or not. there were several dogs there as well as ours. Food was really good. Kansas City is known for its barbecue and this one is as good as the more famous places. Amazing beer menu zinc friendly and helpful wait staff mmm ale thus place a keeper.

  Great outdoor space including covered patio

  I am driving through town with my pup and I enjoyed trying some great bbq and beer at this place! We were kindly welcomed with water for the pup and very friendly service! great covered and warm patio for you and the pup!

  Great back patio and excellent BBQ

  my husband had burnt ends for the first time here. he said they were delish!!! he got burnt ends from another nearby BBQ joint after and said the ones from Char Bar were way better :-)
  The outdoor area here was also great! tables with umbrellas. good service. a very nice salad. all three of us, my carnivore husband, my pescatarian self and our water and bbq loving pup.

  Great BBQ with a Must Try Veggie Option

  Don't get me wrong the traditional BBQ is over the top as well, but the smoked Jackfruit is something even hardened meat eaters should try. It bursts with the flavor of the sauce and smoke, and in no way feels like a second-class vegetarian option. They have a great outdoor patio and are dog-friendly for well-behaved dogs with responsible owners (see Dog Gone Rules posted at the entry). We are definitely coming back the next time we are in KC.

  Great bbq, great dog friendly service.

  Went to charbar twice on a recent visit, once without dog and once with. Had a great experience both times. the staff was very accommodating of our pooch, and great service outside of that too. you have to eat outside with a dog, and they were great about making sure we had enough shade and water. highly recommend!

  Best BBQ and Service EVER

  Wanted some Kansas City BBQ as we were traveling through Kansas City and the Charbar looked like a cool place. We were blown away by the atmosphere, service, and THE FOOD! Our waiter moved an umbrella over to our table when the sun came out, brought our dog water, and gave great menu suggestions! This was one of the best dog friendly restaurant experiences we have had as well as some of if not the best BBQ we’ve had.

  Amazing Food

  We went here because we wanted Kansas City barbecue and this was one the few pup friendly places. It certainly did not disappoint! The fried pickles and cheesy corn bake are worth going alone.

  Great for our pups

  We have 2 labs and they had plenty of space in their outdoor seating area. They brought the pups water as well.

  Awesome for dogs year-round

  We've brought our dog when the full outdoor space is open during warmer months, and when only the covered (and heated) patio is open during the winter. Both experiences are great.

  ❤️ this place!

  My first experience here was a fundraiser for an animal shelter. It was well attended. The staff are fabulous and attentive to the pets too, they are not just allowed but welcome!

  And they have a pet station just outside the patio gates.

  Very nice!
