  Watch Your Dog

  Never in my life have I felt more disrespected by the staff of a restaurant.
  I'll preface this review with the fact that my server Jodie was friendly and prompt, and the food was delicious. And one gentleman food runner was very kind and brought my dog a big bowl of ice water.
  Instead - several employees (food runners/bussers) harassed my dog by approaching and sticking their hands right into her face without asking me or without my permission. Despite her backing up and showing a fearful posture, they continued. One of them ignoring several "excuse me's".
  It was super rude and invasive - and when I was upset about this, and asked them to leave my dog alone - a manager came over, not to resolve conflict but rather to berate how I handled the unconsensual invasion of my and my dog's personal space while I was eating.
  To make it worse, one of the food runners that harassed my dog came over to call me immature.
  I was a military police officer for 6 years, and I worked in the service industry for just as long, and I've never had an issue with employees at any restaurant or even the other Dogwatch stonington location getting in my dog's face without my permission.

  I'm not unreasonable and a restaurant should be judged on it's food and it's service, I'll update this review to reflect the more positive notes if I receive some kind of apology and assurance that staff will be trained to be respectful of patron's and their dog's personal space.

  Great food and location

  food was delicious and staff was super accommodating. Heaters were set up on the patio to allow us to dine comfortably outside in December.

  we felt so immediately welcomed with our pup here!

  <<<due to covid I was concerned they may have said no to the pup so my husband when up first while we stayed in the car to go inquire if they had a table available and to get the final ok for Jet to come with. my husband said they were very welcoming and more than happy to accommodate us! >>>

  within 30 seconds of us sitting down (2 minutes of them knowing a dog would be joining) one of the servers brought out a fresh bowl of water for him! we didn’t even inquire (and had brought our own) we were very touched by this gesture.

  our drive to visit this restaurant was about 2 hours and we will happily make this drive again and come back.

  Always Great

  We’ve been here several times in the past with friends’ dogs and now have brought our own pup and the experience has always been great and accommodating. Great food, great atmosphere.

  Awful Experience Please Beware

  As we approached the hostess stand we were greeted and the young woman looked surprise we had a dog. We waited for the manager to come out, and said "You have been here, you know the rules right". I kindly said no we were visiting and it was our first time here. She then very sternly said "ok well if your dog is not allowed to go to the bathroom here and points to the outside perimeter, and if he barks well you know" she then proceeds to tell me of recent dog bites at this establishment. I ensured her my dog was well behaved and I understood her rules. We were sat at a high table, and told immediately by the manager we would get my dog water. Our waitress came 5 minutes later and asked if we wanted water, I replied yes, she then asked someone to get it for us. Waitress came back 10 minutes later, still no water. She takes our order. Food arrives and...still no water. Waitress comes back and noticed we still don't have water. Finally, she tells another staff member and 10 minutes later, as we are almost done with our meal the water bowl arrives. Also, keeping in mind we were sitting at high table my dog was jumped to come up to see me. I placed him on my lap for a few minutes to pet him(not near the table), it was hot and at that time still waiting for water. The manager (who looks likes someone out of vineyard vine catalog) runs over to our table and with pressured speech says "You cannot put the dog on the table, health code....". He was nowhere near the table. This manager needs to get either get fired or quit because she looks so stressed out, and has no handle on how to run a restaurant and certainly not one that allows dogs. We did not feel welcomed. My dog and I couldn't be happier to get out of there any sooner!

  Great Place To Bring Your Dog

  Great food. Plenty of outdoor seating. Dog friendly staff. We will definitely be back!!
