    Terrible Service

Went with my wife, two daughters, and our little dog. We were in the front patio. Waitress got our kids order wrong, took a long time to come back, by the time she brought the right sauce, pasta was cold, she said she would bring a new plate. 25 mins go by and no sign of her or the pasta, my kids hungry, and she comes asking how was the new pasta. We let her know the new pasta never came, another 15 mins go by w/ no sign of her or the pasta, at which point I went to talk to the manager and we left. It was my wife's birthday, BTW. Apart from that, the food was only ok, and pretty overpriced. I'd stay away from this place.

    Fantastic patio out back

Choose the back patio over the front. Covered patio with heaters, fantastic service and they know how to cater to the canines.

Lousy experience for our pets and us!

I first dined at casanova in the late 80s, have been back since (but only on a once every year basis, I don't live here.) this was the first time I brought our two small dogs, and it was a substandard experience from start to finish. recognize that if you are in the front, you are basically on the sidewalk, and every distraction that goes by can be problematic for your dogs. but that was only a part of the substandard experience. you make the reservations by phone, and they had no record that we were bringing dogs (although they "absolutely believe you, its just they didn't write it down, but no problem, we will be able to take care of you." they were going to put the 3 of us and 2 dogs at a small bistro table for two. This was not going to work, and when I brought up there was another table for two that looked like it had a small extension and was rectangular and could potentially have 3 diners, she agreed to put us there. still, it was clumsy, uncomfortable, and I had no heat from the heaters that other tables had. the gentleman who then came over when we were being seated, seemed like the manager, seats us, then, before he leaves, says...so everyone is happy? seriously, what were we supposed to say? this was better than where they wanted to put us, but clearly was an inferior location and completely unsuitable for 3 people and 2 dogs. this was consistent with the service experience we had throughout the meal. slow service and no one asked how our food was until, literally, the table was being cleared once we had finished "everything good here?" seriously? the food was okay to good to very good. the gnocchi tonight was just okay...but I have had here before and enjoyed it more. the soup was good....certainly nothing creative or interesting, but a good temperature and comforting on a cool evening (except it was ordinary enough I would have expected some cheese on top....LOL.) the linguine scampi was very good, according to the person who ordered it. the pasta nicely al dente and the seafood delicious. the soft shell crab was also considered very good by the person who ordered it. so the food was not the problem, though I don't know that the food is "up to the prices." the meal was pretty damaged by the terrible and uncomfortable and noisy table. and let's face it, if you really "believed" that it had been your mistake that you did not have an appropriate table for us because you had not marked it needed to accommodate dogs, then you should have done something to acknowledge that, don't you think? a drink? an appetizer? an apology??? a dessert? nothing, nothing, nothing. I took a quick look at some of the other reviews, and clearly most diners are happy. I do think the back patio is great.....but only if you are seated there. I never say never, but would be very surprised if I ever came back to Casanova.

    Cozy, European Feel

Charming heated patio in the back that's dog-friendly. Very friendly service and great Southern French/Northern Italian cuisine. Steamed Mussels with Fries and Clam & Chorizo pasta were the highlights.

This restaurant is to die for !!! Every summer,11 of my girlfriends (called "The Beach Bunnies") and I rent a house in the Carmel area.Casa Nova is always on the top of our restaurant list to visit. We love to dine outside in the "Provencal Garden".They start you off with an assortment of olives, bread sticks, and tapenades. Everything is wonderful on the menu, especially the spinach gnocci ! It's creamy, buttery and oh so lucious !! t's the best gnocci I've ever had ! The desserts are heavenly too! It's romantic at night and less expensive for lunch.Go there, you won't regret it !!!

    Wonderful Service

I haven't eaten there yet but on a recent visit as my niece and I were admiring the outside the hostess invited us in for a tour of the restaurant. They took us to the wine cellar, introduced us to the chef and totally made us welcome. What a wonderful place. If the food is as wonderful as the help is courteous it will receive high praise. We will certainly dine there on our next visit.
