    Good dog policies

We often travel from Montreal to CDMX. We have tried several airlines (including air canada) and aeromexico is by far our preferred choice. Even if you don't buy the seat in advance if you pay your fido ticket it's for sure you'll get a window seat. Plus if your fido has ESA he travels for free and can be in your legs at all time.

DO NOT FLY YOUR DOG AEROMEXICO

I would like to give this airline 0 stars but there's no option. We were warned this airline was awful, but they had the best flight option for our pup (would be direct and under 8 hours travel vs our other options were 2+ layovers totalling 23 hours travel), so in best interest of the dog we decided to give it a try.

We called the airline prior to booking tickets, ran all the info by the call center and it all sounded good, our final destination was very strict on dog entry so we have all the vet paperwork in order, all rabies + additional vaccines, and we've researched to the bottom of the earth knowing what we need. W were told we had to book the flight first before booking him on a flight (which is common, and why we ran all the info by someone prior to paying for the flight). Once we booked the flight (non-refundable as all is during covid times) and proceeded to call back to book him on the flight, it was nothing but problems, "NO sorry airline policy", no assistance and we were even hung up on. After calling back 3 times we were given multiple excuses why we couldn't book him, all completely conflicting information between employees and supervisors, and even conflicting info from the supervisor directly. At one point the supervisor caved and said "ok we can reserve him on the flight, you can pay the $250 usd, but you will still probably be denied boarding because we put notes on your file". We asked how we could be sure, can we submit a vet health letter in advance, can we send you a picture so you can see he is not a brachiopatic (short nosed breathing issues - also if our dog had breathing issues why would we push to put him on a plane if he could die). We decided to go direct to the airport hoping to get better info than the call center idiots, the airport check in staff confirmed he was acceptable to fly / there is no issues why he couldn't, he told us to call them back and book as we wouldnt be turned away at check in. We called the call center back and still they refused, offering no solutions, finally we said we went to the aiport yesterday and they said it was fine, they said they cant belive us, so we went back to the airport again and asked the check in staff to write a note on our file, they did, they showed us the note and even gave us a line number to tell the call center staff. Sounds promising, we call the call center back and STILL DENIED, told there was no note, we suggested how the heck did we know it was on "line 29", she said well it only goes up to line 28 so no, we were told there was NO solution he would not be allowed on the flight, we would get not refund on the flights. After all this, we are out 4 days of our time, $1000 in flights, hundreds of dollars in gas and airport parking. We just gave up, after all this with no assurance he would get on, and the total lack of faith something else would go wrong and I value my dog more than $1,000 (oh we are moving, this wasn't for a vacation). SAVE YOURSELF THE GREIF AND MONEY, fly with with West jet, Alaska, or Avianca!!
