Pet Reservations

On A319, A320, A321, B757, and B767 aircraft there is 1 spot available for pets in Business Class and 2 in Economy, or 3 in Economy Class. On the E190 aircraft, there is 1 spot available for pets in Business Class and 1 in Economy Class. As there are a limited number of spaces available for animals on Air Astana flights, they advise you contact the Special Services Team via email at special.services@airastana.com at least 24 hours before your planned departure.

Pets in the Cabin

Air Astana allows small cats, dogs, fish, turtles, and tortoises to accompany passengers in the cabin if the combined weight of the pet and carrier does not exceed 17 lbs (8 kg). Each passenger is permitted to bring 1 animal on board with them. The fee for this service is charged at twice the excess baggage rate of your departure city (e.g. the excess baggage rate of Amsterdam is 18 EUR per kg, so the pet fee is 36 EUR per kg).

Pets in Checked Baggage

Animals who exceed the weight restrictions to travel in the cabin can travel as checked baggage if the combined weight of the pet and carrier is less than 110 lbs (50 kg). Animals over 30 lbs (14 kg) must travel individually. Up to 3 animals under the age of 6 months and from the same litter may be shipped in the same carrier. Air Astana also allows live fish to travel in an aquarium if you inform them of the weight of the carrier and the size of the fish inside. The fee for pets traveling as checked baggage is charged at twice the excess baggage rate of your departure city (e.g. the excess baggage rate of Amsterdam is 18 EUR per kg, so the pet fee is 36 EUR per kg).

Pets in Cargo

Air Astana provides a cargo service for animals who exceed the limits to travel as checked baggage. There are a number of Air Astana Cargo Offices all over the world who will help you organize your pet's travel. Contact the Special Services Team via email at special.services@airastana.com for more information.

Carrier Guidelines

For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers must be no larger than 12" x 18" x 10" (30 cm x 47 cm x 27 cm) for A320, A321, B757, and B767 aircraft and 11" x 17" x 10" (29 cm x 43 cm x 26 cm) for E190 aircraft. For transportation of small dogs and cats, they recommend using a soft bag that can fit under the seat in front. For pets traveling as checked baggage, carriers must be leak-proof, secure, and have proper ventilation. Remove wheels form the bottom of any carriers before they are checked in the cargo hold. Carriers should be large enough for the animal to stand upright and lie down comfortably in its natural position. Pets over 88 lbs (40 kg) must be transported in strong wooden containers.

Other Restrictions

To fly with Air Astana, animals need to have a pet passport, a veterinary certificate, and a microchip for European countries. Pets are not permitted to travel from India, Great Britain, Ireland, South Africa, or Australia. Please note that there is a 385 AED additional airport charge for transporting animals as baggage in the cargo holds out of Dubai.
