airBaltic

airBaltic is the flag carrier airline of Latvia and a low-cost airline. Pets are welcome to travel in the cabin and as checked baggage on most airBaltic flights. Visit Website

Or call 90 001 100 for more information. You can use BringFido to find a pet friendly place to stay at your destination.

Pet Reservations

Only a certain number of pets are allowed on each flight, so be sure to contact the Customer Service Team at (+371) 6700-6006 as early as possible. If the number of pets exceeds the quota on a particular flight, or if the aircraft configuration does not allow for animal transportation, the airline can refuse transportation.

Pets in the Cabin

airBaltic welcomes small cats and dogs in the cabin, as long as the combined weight of the pet and carrier is under 17 lbs (8 kg). Each passenger may bring 1 carrier into the cabin, with up to 2 pets of the same species inside, but weight restrictions still apply. Pets traveling in the cabin are charged a fee of 70 EUR for each direction of travel.

Pets in Checked Baggage

Pets who exceed the maximum weight restrictions in the cabin can travel in the hold instead. Pets traveling in the hold must weigh less than 165 lbs (75 kg). A maximum of 3 young animals (up to 6 months old) of the same species are allowed in 1 carrier. 1 passenger is permitted to transport 5 pets as cargo on airBaltic flights. Fees for this service depend on the size of your pets. Pets and carriers that weigh between 17-70 lbs (8-32 kg) are charged 100 EUR per direction; 70-165 lbs (32-75 kg) will be charged 200 EUR per direction.

Pets in Cargo

All animals that exceed the weight of 165 lbs (75 kg) can be shipped with airBaltic Cargo instead. Contact one of the Handling Agents based in Latvia at (+371) 6-720-7861, or via email at info@airkargo.lv, for more information on shipping Fido as cargo.

Carrier Guidelines

For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers must not exceed 21" x 15" x 9" (55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm) and be leak and bite-proof. Pets must be able to stand up in their natural position, turn around, and lie down comfortably in their carrier. For pets traveling in the hold, carriers must not exceed 31" x 61" x 33" (80 cm x 156 cm x 86 cm). Carriers must be leak and escape-proof, and made of sturdy plastic or wood. Additionally, food and water bowls must be attached for Fido to access during the flight. There must also be ventilation holes on 3 sides to allow them to breathe. Carriers with an animal exceeding the total weight of 70 lbs (32 kg) must be equipped with at least 2 handles.
