Pets in the Cabin
Passengers are welcome to bring small cats and dogs in the cabin on Air Malta flights, as long as they can fit comfortably underneath the seat in front of you. The maximum combined weight for your pet and carrier is 22 lbs (10 kg). Pets must be at least 15 weeks old to travel. Only 1 carrier is allowed per passenger, however there is no limit on the number of carriers that can be carried on each flight. The fee for this service is 70 EUR for each carrier and travel segment.
Pets in Checked Baggage
Pets are permitted to travel as checked baggage in the hold of the aircraft with Air Malta. Fees vary depending on the size of the carrier in which they are being transported. Small carriers between 2-22 lbs (1-10 kg) incur a charge of 70 EUR; medium carriers between 24-44 lbs (11-20 kg) incur a charge of 100 EUR; and large carriers between 46-70 lbs (21-32 kg) incur a charge of 150 EUR. On routes where it isn't possible to transport your pet as baggage or in the passenger cabin, you can send them by cargo instead. Larger animals or those traveling on their own can benefit from this service. The maximum height for carriers is 43" H (110 cm). Pets in Cargo
Pets who do not meet the requirements to travel in the cabin or the hold can be sent as cargo instead. The maximum crate height size is 43" (110 cm). For pet fees, you should contact Air Malta’s Cargo Sales Department via email at email@example.com.
For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers should not measure more than 15" x 13" x 8" (40 cm x 34 cm x 20 cm). Your pet should be carried in a well-ventilated, collapsible carrier, big enough to allow them to stand up, turn around, and lie down safely. Fido must stay inside their carrier throughout the journey. For pets traveling as checked baggage, carriers must weigh less than 132 lbs (60 kg). They must also not exceed a height of 39" (100 cm).
