If you’d like to bring your dog to/from Svalbard, apply for a permit from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, available on Norwegian website. Select Norwegian flights are limited to 2 pets on board.

Small cats or dogs can travel in the cabin on flights within Schengen and/or EU if the combined weight of the pet and carrier does not exceed 17 lbs (8 kg). Up to 2 pets are permitted to travel in the cabin on each flight or up to 3 very small puppies or kittens can be transported in the same carrier. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to travel. The combined weight of your pet and carrier cannot exceed 17 lbs (8 kg). The fee for transporting pets in the cabin is 55 - 75 EUR if you book online and 60 - 85 EUR at the airport.

Pets weighing over 17-31 lbs (8-14 kg) can be transported as checked baggage instead. Up to 2 cats or 2 dogs can travel in the same carrier if they're well acquainted. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old. The fee for pets traveling as checked baggage is 150 - 180 EUR if you book online and 170 - 200 EUR at the airport each way.

Pets being transported alone or those that exceed the maximum dimensions for travel as checked baggage can be transported as cargo with Norwegian Cargo. You can find out more information about this option by contacting them via email at post@norwegiancargo.com

For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers must not exceed 17" x 12" x 8" (43 cm x 31 cm x 20 cm). Norwegian recommends a carrier made of flexible materials. For pets traveling as checked baggage, carriers must not exceed 50" x 32" x 34" (125 cm x 81 cm x 86 cm). Carriers must be clearly marked with names and phone number, clean, in good condition, and made be of a solid material that is fully waterproof. Wheels must be removed and doors must be secured. Additionally, carriers must be ventilated on 3 sides.
