Pets in the Cabin
Unfortunately, small pets are not permitted to travel in the cabin with REX.
Pets in Checked Baggage
Pets under 66 lbs (30 kg) are welcome to fly as checked baggage in the pressurized cargo hold area, at cabin-temperature. Animals are not accepted as part of your baggage allowance. Fees for this service start at $5.50 per kg and include the weight of the carrier.
Pets in Cargo
Pets over 66 lbs (30 kg) can travel as cargo through Qantas Freight or Dogtainers. Additionally, all animals traveling through Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth airports must travel as cargo as the Airport Corporations do not permit animals in their terminal buildings.
Other Restrictions
Rex no longer be accepts Snub-Nosed or Brachycephalic dogs, including but not limited to Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston terriers, Shih tzus, Pit Bull Terriers, Chow Chow, Mastiffs, Boxers and Pekingese. Dogs arriving in Tasmania will be required to be treated for hydatid tapeworms prior to entry.
