Entry Requirements
Complete the following entry requirements to travel to Algeria with your pet:
- Algeria is a high risk country for rabies. Before receiving an import permit, travelers must obtain 2 pictures of their pet's front teeth, a CDC Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Record (attached), a serologic titer from an approved laboratory and a passport photo of the owner. Once these items are obtained, apply for a permit for your pet to return to the U.S. at this link. For further guidance on importing your pet to Algeria, contact the CDC directly at cdcanimalimports@cdc.gov
- Pets entering Algeria from the U.S. require an APHIS Form 7001 veterinary export health certificate (attached).
- Travelers from Europe must instead obtain an EU Pet Passport.
- Pets must also be current on rabies vaccinations with proof and dewormed.
Quarantine Information
Pets traveling to Algeria do not need to be quarantined if they meet all the necessary requirements listed above.
