Entry Requirements

Complete the following entry requirements to travel to Thailand with your pet:
  • Thailand is a high risk country for rabies. Before receiving an import permit to return to the U.S., travelers must obtain 2 pictures of their pet's front teeth, a CDC Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Record, a serologic titer from an approved laboratory and a passport photo of the owner. Once these items are obtained, apply for a permit for your pet to return to the U.S. at this link. For further guidance on returning to the U.S. with your pet from a high risk country, contact the CDC directly at cdcanimalimports@cdc.gov
  • Request an import permit from Animal Quarantine Station (AQS) via email at moacdc@thaiembdc.org or qsap_bkk@dld.go.th
  • Send the completed permit, attached R1/1 form, a copy of your passport, a photo of your pet, flight itinerary, vaccination record in English and a certificate of microchip to a certified veterinarian to be accredited and the endorsement office in the country of origin.
  • After these steps are completed, a certificate will be issued that is valid up to 10 days before travel.
  • Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand, you will be required to present your pet's vaccination record, official health certificate and a hard copy of your import permit.
  • Contact AQS at the airport for a notice of import approval, an import license and to pay a fee of 500 baht.
