Super 8 by Wyndham AmesOK place in a pinch. The only food close by is a Mexican place that was closed on the Monday I stayed. Older building but the room was comfy.

a mixed bag
Americas Best Value Inn Story CityThe best thing about this smallish motel is the really good Mexican restaurant attached to it! Run by a local family, the food is great and cheap. All necessary things like gas and travel supplies are very close. However, the place is in need of reservation. My room was dark and had no security lock on the inside of the door. Both the owner and assistant seemed unfamiliar with internet procedures, making check-in tedious and frustrating. Another plus was the large fenced yard out back for the dogs. The rate was reasonable but as usual, you get what you pay for........
