Room had a chemical odor
Best Western Plus Richmond Hill InnThis Best Western Plus was just ok. It was easy on/off the interstate, but the room definitely had a funky smell. We opened the windows for a couple hours which seemed to help, but I regretted not asking for a different room. Otherwise, the room was clean and basic.

Finally, a hotel with a walk-in shower!
Home2 Suites by Hilton HagerstownRoom was good overall. Adequate pet relief area, maybe a little small, but you could walk around the property. Bed coverlet was white, which I prefer. Sheets, however, were polyester with lots of static. Mattress had a full mattress cover (which I also prefer). Friendly staff, but we left before 6am so didn’t get to try the breakfast. Coffee was fine though. We’d stay here again.

Perfect place to stay
The Village Inn HarrisonburgConvenient, clean and comfortable. Since you’re parking right outside your room, it’s easy to load/unload your car. The Village Inn at Harrisonburg is conveniently located near I81, but isn’t near any dodgy businesses or other motels so you feel safer when outside at night walking your dog. There’s a great grassy area near the outdoor pool as well. Yes, trash containers aren’t easily located. So what? Mattresses in room 125 were excellent, but I can’t speak for other rooms. For me this stay will be on automatic every time I drive from Boston to Florida.

Cleanest hotel room ever!
Candlewood Suites Hopewell an IHG HotelDriving up I95, I didn’t find many good options for dog-friendly hotels around Richmond. I decided to look around I295 & happy I did. I checked in late at night & left early in the morning so I can’t speak about any amenities, but for me, it’s all about the cleanliness & I’d stay here again in a heartbeat,

2nd visit
Hampton Inn Columbia I-26 Harbison BlvdThis Hampton Inn will remain one of the stops on my biannual trips between Florida & Cape Cod. The hotel is located on a small lake which has a perimeter walk (.65 mile) and is perfect for walking the dog. The hotel staff is very friendly, all the bed linen is white, and the room was very clean. I can’t speak to their breakfast, but their coffee is adequate. It’s location wasn’t super convenient for my drive, but the extra 15 minutes was well worth it.

Convenient, just off interstate
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Shippensburg an IHG HotelGreat location and very clean hotel. Plenty of places around to walk the dog. Breakfast was standard meh, but I wasn’t there for the food. All white bedding is wonderful.
