Awesome experience!

Kimpton Hotel Palomar Los Angeles Beverly Hills an IHG Hotel

It was my birthday weekend, and I just wanted a cool meeting place that I could hang out with my friends, and one of course that would accommodate my baby dog Carlos. We had a great experience, and will likely go back there again.

The hotel was perfect for what I was looking for - nice, hip, relaxed, ambiance..... but it was also smaller, and more intimate than one of the larger hotels. It didn't have the hustle / bustle nor the lines of a large hotel. It was classy and romantic enough, if that was what I was going for (it really wasn't tho', but it was nice that was an option.)

The pool area was great for hanging out. It's not the same as the picture here on this site -look at the actual hotel web page for that - but it was still nice.

There was an outdoor fire fixture that was great. Pretty - plus useful when we sat by it for heat because we didn't want to go inside after it started to get dark and cooler.

My friend's little boy loved the pool, and we really enjoyed sitting in a big swing taking pictures, and otherwise relaxing on the large couches and catching up. There was iced flavored water available.

I don't believe dogs are allowed in the pool area; we left Carlos in the room. There likely wasn't outside food and drink allowed, but I'm not sure. We had discretely sipped glasses of champagne, and snacked on nuts, and no one seemed to mind.

The hotel is located in a wonderful area on Wilshire between Westwood / UCLA and Beverly Hills. You could have easily found a wonderful restaurant close by.

In part because we were feeling lazy, we decided to just eat in the restaurant in the hotel, which I believe is called Double Double. I really liked our waiter who good naturally was great in allowing us to move our eating experience to the game room adjacent to the restaurant. There was a pool table, and other games, two large tvs, a dart board, etc....

I thought it was perfect while the adults eat and drank (if you post a pic on social media, tagging the hotel/restaurant, you get a free drink) our friend's little boy played nearby. There were other couples having a romantic moment, cuddling on some of the couches far from our louder G rated group. Carlos laid quietly under our table, and no one seemed to notice. It helped having a very small, quiet and well behaved dog....

The food was good - I liked my large seafood salad and the side of brussel sprouts. The tempura avocado appetizer was a big hit too. There was a full bar, but we didn't need to order much alcohol because we each got a complimentary glass of wine for posting a picture of our food on Facebook. This is something I do anyway, so I thought it was great getting a free glass of wine for it...

There was no extra fee for Carlos, which was awesome. Further no other rules, such as you can't leave the dog alone in the room. I've stayed in those hotels, and its such a hassle! In fact the form I was to fill out - they ran out of them, and they never got around to running up a copy to the room to have me sign.

The rooms were nice, and just like on the website.

Valet was expensive, but not unusually expensive. For those who didn't want to pay the fee, the parking was tricky for my friends who had to drive around for a bit to find street parking. I opted for the valet - it's $44 for in and out privileges. I was okay with paying that amount since I had so much stuff / and Carlos with me.

Besides the very nice hip ambiance, the price per night for the room was incredible - a wonderful deal compared to other hotels / venues.

I was extremely happy with our stay here, and will definitely return.
