With a rescued Feist Hound (He's a North Carolina Hunting Mutt), we plan our trips so the dog can go with us.

Nice location, NOT hard to find...
Fuquay-Varina Downtown Dog ParkAs a long-term resident of Fuquay-Varina, I love that we have a dog park. It's divided for large and small dogs, and both sides have fresh water fountains (although they do freeze up in the winter). The park is maintained well, and the town provides poop bags at 3 stations, one in the parking area and one in each side. The biggest challenge seems to be the people who ignore their dog's leavings and think it's someone else's job.
Awesome location, BYOB!
Dog Park at Boca Ciega Millennium ParkThis is a great little dog park tucked away on the back side of the park itself. While the park does have a communal bag holder for plastic bags, they're primarily from people bringing their extras to the park - Hence the BYOB comment - Bring your own bag! It's quiet and shaded, the water fountain is convenient and the park is divided nicely into large and small dog sides. However, regardless of the time of year bring mosquito spray.
Nice walking trails, but crowded on weekends
Greenfield Lake ParkGreenfield features nice paths and walking trails, but is also host to some Canada Geese - be warned. It was crowded the day we were there, Not well supplied with water fountains - bring a travel bowl and bottled water.
