Nice staff, but kind of a dump
Comfort Inn Blacksburg University AreaThe staff was excellent, very kind, but the room was filthy and smelled of urine (human, not dog!). There were cobwebs everywhere and I killed 3 large bugs that were crawling across the desk. I don't know what roaches look like, but i think that's what they were. The toiletries in the bathroom had been USED!! They were not new, so I didn't dare use them. Who knows what someone could have put in them. Excellent coffee and breakfast in the morning though. One other negative is that the dog walk area is the same as the smoking area, so if your pup tends to pick up things they shouldn't, this might not be the place for you. And because it is a college town, the price was twice what I would pay elsewhere, especially for a shabby, dirty room.

Wonderful spot!
Holiday Inn Express Indianapolis Airport an IHG HotelGreat, modern, clean hotel. Plenty of green area for walking. We were given a first floor room right near the side door so very convenient. There was an outdoor pool. We didn't read the rules too carefully (oops!) and there was no one else there, so my pooch got a quick swim, too! (shh!). Full hot breakfast was a bonus. For this east-coaster who never sees it, they had BISCUITS AND GRAVY!!

Absolute dump
Super 8 by Wyndham Sterling COThis hotel, one other in not much better shape, and one rotted out hotel full of vagrants, prostitutes and homeless are down a side road near the penitentiary with a different street name. Sketchy people sitting in cars with music blasting and smoking weed. Friendly girl at the front desk, big smile with what was left of her meth teeth. Room itself was fine, but dingy. There were flies everywhere. In our room. In the hall. In the lobby. The glass pool room was broken into and been boarded up with plywood. There were dirty diapers strewn everywhere. There was no place to walk my dog that didn't have cigarette butts, food wrappers and piles of vomit. There was supposed to be a grab-and-go breakfast, and the morning guy reluctantly got me 2 bags from the back office when I asked. Like it was an imposition on him. At 8 am. He must have been saving them for the call girls that were wandering over in their pajamas from the burnt out hotel across the parking lot. I slept with one eye open, as the side door near my room was not secure, the lock had been broken out so anyone could come and go. There must have been 10 people in the room across the hall, at least 5 of them children, and they were up yelling and stomping all night. I could go on, but I won't. I will do my best to forget what we just went through.

Nice room, opened to the parking lot
Best Western Country Inn NorthSome folks don't like this type of hotel, but I think it's great when traveling with a dog. Our car was right in front of our room. It was just a few steps to a grassy patch for a walk. It was on a street away from other houses and businesses, so it was pretty quiet. Good value for the cost.

Awesome place for dogs!!
Golden Spike Tower & Visitor CenterWe were visiting on our way through, cross country road trip back home from elder son in Utah to home in upstate NY. My younger son has autism and loves trains so we had to stop. Stewie was welcomed warmly with a nice grassy potty area near the parking lot, and a dish full of dog biscuits at the entrance! Staff were friendly and helpful. One lady suggested we go out back to the courtyard displays. It is fenced in and acts as a dog park! Stewie loved running around off-leash and climbing on the wooden train play structure. He was a very good boy riding the elevator up to the 8th floor observation deck and loved looking out over the switch yard. highly recommended activity if your dog is with you, and well worth the $8 entrance fee. If you are going to other attractions in North Platte, I think there is a discount program as well.

It was ok
Super 8 by Wyndham CodyThe description says dogs get a welcome baggie. We did not. Even though there were signs everywhere that masks were required indoors because of COVID, none of the employees were wearing them. Worst is that there is no breakfast. Most Super 8's at least have grab and go type stuff Nothing here but coffee, and the coffee was so weak it looked like iced tea. Positives are that it is easy to find, right on the main road, and there are restaurants within walking distance if you are ok leaving your dog in the room. There was a fridge and microwave in the room. The potty area is mostly rocks and my pup wasn't used to that. It took him a while to figure out what he was supposed to do out there.

Made our stay easy!
Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Rochester South Mayo ClinicVery friendly staff, and a first floor room right near the door at the end of the hallway. It was so easy to unload our car and take our pup out for walks. There is a HUGE grass area right behind this exit for walking and playing, and there is a fenced in retention pond out front and other dog parents were walking around it with their pooches, so there must be a trail or sidewalk over there. There is an indoor pool, and dogs are not allowed in there, but there is an outdoor patio right there, so my son was able to swim while we enjoyed a cold beverage just outside and could keep an eye on him through the glass (he is a very competent swimmer, but I still like to keep an eye on him). Would definitely stay here again if we are in the area!

Fine for the price
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Cleveland - Airport NorthBathroom was really dirty, no one had scrubbed corners and edges of the floor in a VERY long time. They put us on the 3rd floor, so not convenient at all for walking my pupper. Not much grass for walking either. Most of the small patches around the building were littered with tons of cigarette butts. But for the price, I didn't expect much more.
