Would have been great but COVID
Hotel Paradox Autograph CollectionThe hotel is really quite nice, and Santa Cruz and the surrounding area is a dog's paradise. There are tons of outdoor patios where our lab could lay under the table during meals and a fun dog beach. But the hotel did not have sufficient housekeeping staff. We had to beg to get our room cleaned in the middle of the week, even though we were there for a full week. It would have been fine for a day or two but pretty rough for a full week, particularly given that it is not an inexpensive hotel. Also, the park behind the hotel has become a homeless encampment. It's relatively clean and well-maintained (compared to what we see around L.A.) but definitely not ideal if you were hoping for a scenic walk with the dog along the river. In non-COVID times, I suspect that it would be five stars, but with COVID, we're looking at more like 3.5. We'd give it another try in the future though.
Lovely afternoon!
Bargetto WineryThis winery has a great patio, and we had a lovely afternoon wine tasting and looking out over the river. Our labrador was content to hang out and be admired by other wine-tasters, while nibbling a few crackers that we shared in exchange for good behavior. It was fantastic!
