Lots of separate pens

Shamrock Dog Park

This dog park has not 1, not 2, but 3 different large dog enclosures which seems great, but led to people awkardly trying to give dogs their own private pen as they arrived when we really wanted some friends for playtime. They could use some "do not disturb/come on in" hotel-style signs. The park is locked and requires a programmed key card to enter. The week-long pass was $10 in Dec 2019 and was quick to purchase at Buckles, a cute independent pet store very close to the park itself.

GREAT park!

Thornberry Off-Leash Dog Park

This park is such a treat, like a carnival for doggos! The stand-out unique thing here is a fenced dog swimming pond with jumping doc. It's so hard to find sanctioned dog swimming areas in Iowa (we live in Ames). In addition there are big dog, small dog and a dog training/agility area with nice shelters. Lots of dogs also make this a fun stop. The easy on-site day pass honor system works great for folks like us that don't live local.

Amazing prairie

Spring Green Dog Park

This park is such a treat because the park has tall-grass prairie in it!! An excellent way to add a level of difficulty to a game of chase and to add some interest -- i get a little tired of turf lawns in all the dog parks. There are paths mown around the park with one of the straightaways mown down short for a good fetch run. There are separate small dog and large dog areas. No water on site but several water bowls provided. The park was constructed and is maintained by a friends of the dog park group - no membership or passes required, just free-will donation!

Basic but nice

Bradley Dog Park

There are actually two separate dog parks right next to each other in the laura bradley park. Biggest issue was finding the dog park within the larger park as there are no directional signs for the dog park areas. Instead follow the "equipment service" signs to access the southern dog park which is divided into small and large dog sides. Northern park (up the hill past the "equipment service") is not divided and nice and big, but it's right next to 74 on one side. Just for avoiding some of the noise and the eyesore we preferred the lower park! No pass/membership required and right off 74 so good for pups on the road.
