Great and not so great

Chelsea Waterside Dog Park

I brought my pup here because it remained open through covid (unlike the NYC City Parks). This is a unique dog park in its layout -- it has huge rocks and small rolling hills that are fun and provide a new environment for dogs. There is also a dog pool that is turned into a sort of fountain, which all of the dogs seemed to love.

I'm only giving it three bones for a few reasons -- the park is on the smaller end, and with the rocks in the middle, my dog didn't actually run much at this dog run. The rocks and the hills also make it a bit tough to watch your dog/keep an eye on them wherever they are in the park. Moreover, the ground is made of loose bricks in one area (I think for drainage purposes), and my dog got a scrape on her paw from falling into the cracks. I might bring my pup back if I were close by for some reason, but wouldn't make the trip for it.

Beautiful park for humans

Hudson River Park

The Hudson River Park (and all of the parks administered by them along the Hudson River) are gorgeous and breezy. However, dogs aren't allowed on the grass or anywhere else except for the designated dog runs, even at night.

Very nice run

Tribeca Dog Run

There is a small dog run (for under 23 lbs) and a big dog run. Both are quite nice, with recreational concrete on the ground (no gravel), fountains that the dogs can play in, and hoses for cleaning the ground and hosing hot puppies down. My only qualm is that the small dog park is a little too small for my bigger-but-still-small dog. It's very nice otherwise, with lots of nice seating.

Love this park!

Leroy Street Dog Run

I've started bringing my pup here as they have remained open through covid (unlike the NYC City Parks' runs). The park is for big and small dogs/is not divided by dog size, but it is definitely big enough for bigger dogs to get plenty of exercise.

The ground is entirely concrete/a similar material to a basketball court, but there is a nice fountain in one corner that can be filled to create a pool large enough for quite a few dogs. There is a self-cleaning water fountain for the dogs to drink from, and lots of benches both in the shade and in the sun. There are hoses to water down the ground and your dog (if they love water like mine and get super hot anytime it's over 70 degrees).

Basically -- a great park!
