A little dated but still nice

The Inn at Tomichi Village

The section of the hotel we stayed in was a 2-story old-fashioned motel style, with the room doors all exiting to the outdoors. There is also a hotel-style building, but perhaps they don't put pets in that building. The room was clean and comfortable; some of the furnishings were a bit older and homey, but nothing wrong with that. I just wish we had been on the ground floor because we had to haul all our stuff up the stairs to the second floor (and we are well past our prime). The grassy pet area was conveniently located although, when we got there, there were two people lying on a blanket in that area, LOL. The free breakfast was good, and the staff were very pleasant. We'd stay here again, but probably request a first floor room next time.

Very pleased

Comfort Suites La Vista - Omaha

We planned to spend one night and a blizzard extended our stay for another night. We were very comfortable: nice room, beds, bath, couch, refrigerator, etc. Plenty of good food for breakfast, and even some nice microwave meals (for purchase) were available so we didn't have to go out in the weather for dinner. Miss Kelly enjoyed her stay here as well. Highly recommend!

No complaints!

La Quinta by Wyndham North Platte

First of all, we appreciate that there was no dog fee. The room was very nice; the only thing we noticed was that the bathroom could use a bit of cosmetic work. They had dog treats and poo bags, and ample space to walk our critter. Breakfast was great, and we were even serenaded by the gentleman who was overseeing the breakfast operation! We highly recommend this hotel.

A few things lacking

My Place Hotel - Council Bluffs/Omaha East IA

Pros: The room was fine; no complaints there. They were very nice to us and to our dog. Also, several nearby restaurants. Cons: no poo bags available, and just a strip of grass for a potty area. A "continental breakfast" was advertised for something like $7.49, but the reality turned out to be more like vending machine food: pre-made burritos, pastries, egg & sausage muffins and juices in a refrigerator. No breakfast service.

Nice hotel, stiff dog fee

Clarion Inn Garden City

The room was nice enough, although the shower did not work. The on-site restaurant (Baron's) was VERY nice. But for the $45+4.98 tax dog fee, Miss Kelly expected more than a complimentary Milk Bone. For that money, there should have been maybe a nice dog bed or something. Even the poo bag dispenser outside was empty. And they will put a temporary charge of $250 against your credit card when you check in, in case your dog damages something in the room. I appreciate that they accept dogs, and that damage costs money but we felt it was more than necessary.

Nice dog amenities

Best Western Plus Rio Grande Inn

At check-in we received a "doggie bag" with Milk Bones for Bonnie. She was thrilled to find an elevated dog bed in the room. She does not have one at home, but took to it immediately and spent most of the night on it. There were designated potty areas and poo bags outside near our entrance. The desk clerk pointed out a fenced "dog run" area, but we found it was just a long narrow run with a layer of pebbles; and it was padlocked so was inaccessible any way. The room was fine. Dinner at the on-site restaurant took a long time due to short staffing and wasn't as good as we expected. We didn't try them for breakfast because we were in a hurry to get on the road. They have a large parking area but the two gates on the side of the property were locked. This made it difficult for us to figure out how to get our RV in and out of the property. The hotel is right next to I-40, but access took a bit of planning. Still, if you aren't traveling with an RV and are flexible about meals, this is a nice place to stay and we'd recommend it.

Acceptable option but could be better

Quality Inn Near Grand Canyon

Room was fine. Exterior door to our building did not lock. No specific potty areas or poo bags for Bonnie; she preferred the rock landscaping to the weed and dirt area out at the edge of the parking lot.

OK, but...

Exchange Club Motel

First impression is that of an old motel (and not as in "wow, what a cool vintage motel"). The room, however, seemed clean enough (except for a few bits of M&M candy shell left on the carpet). The bed was comfortable and the bathroom fixtures had been updated. Still, there was nowhere for Bonnie to go potty; this was just one of several hotels/motels for whom "pet friendly" does not extend to providing potty facilities. Bonnie is old and can't do stairs, so we had to carry her up and down the exterior stairway to/from our 2nd floor room. This was no one's fault, but just be aware there is no elevator.

Worked well

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Minden an IHG Hotel

We got a room on the ground floor near the exterior door on the end of the building. They supposedly have a dog area on the other end of the building, but we never saw one. No poo bags were provided, at least not at our end of the building, but apparently we weren't supposed to potty Bonnie in that area. Bonnie did her business in the small grassy medians at the end of the parking lot; after awhile we saw something like NO PETS painted (but mostly unreadable) on the curb. Bonnie isn't much for following ludicrous rules, so she just did her thing and we didn't worry about it. The room itself was very nice, and they had wood-look vinyl planking on the floor, which is much smarter than carpet. The room and the bed and bathroom appeared clean and pleasant. Would stay here again and would recommend others stay here, as long as you are comfortable with making your own potty procedures.

Nice, but....

Best Western Plus Wendover Inn

The room was, overall, quite nice and we were happy with the location near the door and well-lit outdoor pet area. However, in the corner of an otherwise well-appointed room there was, inexplicably, an old white chair and ottoman upholstered with a thin fabric-backed vinyl. The vinyl was flaking off everywhere, very badly and very obviously. We would have liked the use of the chair, but neither of us wanted to touch it. Having said that, we would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to other travelers. We just don’t understand the chair...
