It was fine
Outer Banks MotelAfter Hurricane Dorian in 2019 the businesses are still trying to get over the loss of business, so there weren't many choices for us to stay with our dog. It was friendly enough but the added pet fee was super frustrating when the off season price for the room alone wasn't cheap to start.

Blackbeard's LodgeI loved the feel of the Ocracoke Island life. The owner was super friendly and the accommodations were just fine.

Super sweet owners!
Red Roof Inn Hartford - VernonThe welcome from the owner was genuine and felt wonderful! There wasn't a ton of grassy area specifically for my dog but we walked the large parking lot perimeters and it was a nice outing. Basic accommodations in the room, and finally they now offer coffee again in the lobby!

Do not consider this dump
Motel 6 Norfolk VAI tried for non smoking but got there & she said that wasn't guaranteed anyway - all they had was a smoking. Thankfully she gave us 15 mins to assess & back out. It reeked so badly, had no carpets, no blankets, no decorations, felt like a 3rd world dump or jail cell. The smell was beyond smoking. The headboard even dangled broken, half on the wall! This is not for a family or single traveler, and potentially not safe. Hard to say what else is going on in the other rooms. Day, night, and weekly residents.

Outside looks worse than the inside
Village InnAt first looks, the outside is not impressive but once inside our room, it was newer and nice. The overall price was more than I would have liked, but there wasn't much choice at this time of year, location, & with a dog. Has the additional $25 pet fee then a $50 security deposit that is refunded.
