Acceptable hotel for road trip
La Quinta Inn by Wyndham ChampaignThe hotel has a massive field behind it where I was able to play with my dog. The hallways and carpets were a bit dirtier than preferred but the rooms were comfortable. We had a good night's sleep before leaving the next morning.
Met Basic Needs
Quality Inn EffinghamRight off the freeway, we had a ground floor room. It wasn't luxurious but it was everything that we needed for an overnight stop. They have a huge grass lawn between them and the neighboring hotel, and provide doggy bags. I ate some of the breakfast because I'm not picky and it was fine. $15 pet fee was super easy. If you need a crash pad, I would recommend.
Great stop for us and our dog
La Quinta by Wyndham TupeloLa Quinta had plenty of grass around the building, as well as poop bag dispeners.
Solid night with the dog
Motel 6 Bernalillo NMThe Motel 6 had everything we needed for a night with our dog. Nothing fancy, but with no dog fee and with them allowing big dogs, it was just what we needed. Grass isnt common in this part of New Mexico, but thats not unique to Motel 6.
All doors faced inside. We had a room facing away from the parking lot and facing I-25, but the freeway noise was mostly blocked by a large dirt berm, and I slept great.
Great turf park for active and passive dogs
Fair Park Dog ParkThe fairgrounds park has 2 areas, posted for active and passive dogs. The passive area tends to be mostly smaller dogs, but all sizes are in the active part of the park. The park surface is turf, some bark, some rocks, and concrete sidewalk. Some owners are not great at picking up their dogs poop, but aggressive and wild dogs (and owners) are extremely rare. Pre-COVID I was here twice a day
