Perfect road stop
Virgin River Hotel and CasinoNothing great here, but simple and clean overall. Imagine a Motel 6. Clean but don't expect shampoo or coffee makers. I personally don't like casinos, but their food and rooms are a good value. Don't let the price put you off.
Super casual for dogs
Historic Santa Maria InnCool old bldg that needs lots of deferred maintenance. I don't mind old and even dated, but it's a little dingy. However, restaurant was surprisingly excellent. Pool is lovely (tho way too many in it during covid). Staff was wonderful overall and especially with dog. That also means that leashes were not enforced, dog was allowed at pool , etc. Great for me, but I'd rather pay $150 instead of 119 and know the windows were clean, operable, walkways were power-washed, etc. Little things. But I'd stay again in the same situation (3 week road trip partly camping and just wanted to sit and read by the pool).
cheap but that's what we wanted
Motel 6 Kelso - Mt St Helenssome delayed maintenance, and I think all Motel 6 rooms smell like smoke. However, we have a dog so it's an easy stop. No shampoo, only soap. No ice working. But cheap!
Grass area, easy access,
Americas Best Value Inn & Suites Klamath FallsThis is an inexpensive, roadside motel, but it worked for us on a road trip with a 65# dog. Staff was very nice and also flexible when we actually stayed an extra day (not because it was beautiful but because we needed wifi for a day of work). Ice machine is the bomb, tho!
